A road sign is right about here, and it cautions traffic entering the 101 ramp that the maximum height ("vertical clearance") is 14 feet and 11 inches. This height is probably the clearance between the ramp to southbound 101 and the bridges with 85, along with a bridge from 85 to Shoreline:

I noticed that car routes that travel from I-880 southbound to CA-237 westbound go through this intersection rather than using the motorway link. Is there an explanation for why this is the case?
