The policy followed for this edit was: osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct

29527226 over 10 years ago

The tag came from user Nop, who used it in his rendering. He no longer does this, in part because the tag is not useful for it. His bot was controversial at the time and was partially reverted. Nop did not wish the cluster tag to be abandoned, but agreed to not oppose the edit.

It was a mistake to introduce cluster in the first place (see the entire heated debate with Nop in the archives), and now it's fixed.

Objects that could be cleaned up per usual mapping standards at the same time were cleaned up.

The DWG (data working group) was notified, in advance, due to the size of the edit and the global nature.

Perhaps you could define the meaning of denotation=cluster, and ask if it has present day value? How would you design that tag today?

Your changeset comment says "gps trace and knowlege", yet these tags look like an import osm.org/changeset/24221392 . What's up?

Replaced "unsurfaced" with "surface=dirt".

Could you contact me about this import?

Please check you have a tag named "#", and a county name that's not needed.

That's helpful. There's a second dumpster in the same area. Is this a rolling dumpster?

22409960 over 10 years ago

It appears to be a private dumpster, inside a locked gate. I imagine nobody would be welcome to place objects in it. Is that useful to have mapped?

Dear gepeix,

What does "natural_monument" mean for trees like osm.org/node/2402344202/history . Those appear to be common backyard, road and farm trees.

Could you look at the tagging?

This is a complete removal of denotation=cluster, please see here http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gis.openstreetmap.tagging/22925

There's been much discussion of the cluster value over the last four years, see the mailing list archives.

This was a lot of work, to hand curate and carefully unwind the damage done by the initial import and subsequent tagging.

The tags here are really... odd. Can we talk about improvements?

I saw you mapped a private dumpster within a private locked gate. It seems like that's an object we should not map. Your thoughts? Check the tagging list for discussion.

Is osm.org/node/774726428/history a shop or a tree?

25672210 over 10 years ago

For example this way still has bad keys osm.org/way/327597028 and is not deleted.
