I'm a relatively new mapper in Strathpine, a suburb in the North of Brisbane, QLD, Australia.
Neither my wife nor I either have a car or driver's license, so we go everywhere by public transport or foot. Because of this, I have a particular interest in pedestrian amenities (benches, shelters, footways, waste baskets, etc.). I'm also particularly interested in making sure data is added to OSM in a way that routing engines can produce routes optimised for pedestrian traffic.
For mapping, I use an Apple iPhone 3GS running Motion-X GPS to record tracks, waypoints and photos. I export this to GPX files and import into Mercaartor running on Mac OS X, which I use to edit & upload. Sometimes I'll make minor POI updates using iLOE, as I can edit and upload immediately from my iPhone straight away.
I use OpenMaps for iPhone to generate OSM-based navigation routes using the YOURS service (OpenMaps also supports CloudMade routing).
