I do not edit but only use this map, so I don't know the detail about OSM, but is it not possible to name the differerent names between Japanese and Korean like Google Map(In Google map, these islands are shown '竹島' in Japanese, '独島' in Korean) ...? Thinking of that problem between Japan and Korea, I recommend this suggestion. It will be for both Japanese and Korean.
I do not think the battle of renaming between both Japanese users and Korean users.
