ChurchHill Outlined Now

Posted by Chuddy1999 on 11 December 2008 in English.

Well got most of south Church Hill outlined, this is in Redditch. I tend to detour on the way to work to go round the various sections. Then upload the tracks as well. Now I need to change my route into work to take account of North Churchill. I had though to get a bicycle instead of using the car, but its december and I am lazy, so if you are in north church hill and you hear a car moving around in the early hours dont worry its just me mapping the area 8-).

I see Birmingham is close to completion now, I think they set themselves the target of before year end. Great work people.

Moving Forwards

Wife is learning to drive, so now i take my rig out with us when we are moving. It helps to also show here a trace of where she has been. So now collecting even more traces of the local area and some of the test routes used by the examiners.
Now I really should find the time to put them up and edit them. Need to figure out how to put photos with some of the data as well. I was reading that someone else from LUG RADIO Live 2008 has been bitten and is going to put POST Boxes into the data... What a brilliant idea, i will try to do this and also add some of the phone boxes that still exist.
Since my vehicle runs on LPG i shall have to make an effort to include places that dispense this, as my gps traffic guide does not always have the most up to date information and when you are running on the last gasps of LPG you dont want to have to use Petrol. Following directions to something that has since closed is never enjoyable.

Newbie thoughts

Posted by Chuddy1999 on 2 August 2008 in English.

Got interested in OSM through Lug Radio Live.
Managed to locate some free software to put on my Treo 650 to log my travels, around the local area.
Now learning to use JOSM (its hard) but already made a few entries that appear correct.
So now when I am out and about the treo 650 and bluetooth gps unit are switched on with cotogps running.
Spending some of today trying to get JOSM running under ubuntu. As for gpsbabel not a chance as the command line side is too confusing and I have been unable to locate a gui for it. SO using gpsvisualizer to convert my pdb tracks to gpx files.
I really want to keep it all as free as i can.
Great project / organisation and i hope to keep contributing and also get better
cheers
