My new website | Excellent, love it, cant wait to see what else you are going to do with this Some comments: - When I select different options and new markers are being loaded there is nothing to show the user that a query is in progress, instead it just looks like nothing is happening. Maybe add something to show a query is being processed or alternatively speed up the process - I’m using chrome (Version 31.0.1650.57 m) and twice it locked up the browser. Noticed it happening when I zoomed into level 14 and tried to zoom back out again - “Set”, what does this do? - Its great that you can add notes for existing features, however it would be good to be able to add notes for features that don’t show up - Under the “Add Missing Data” window, I would suggest wording it something like: Option 1 - Add the data yourself, its easy, click here to go to the openstreetmap website and sign up. It only takes a few mins and the new information will appear within minutes. You will also likely have the option to use satellite imagery which will allow you place your information more accurately. Option 2 - Add a note for other mappers which they can use to add the missing data. Be clear in what you want added. The more detail and the clearer your message, the more likely it will get added to the map. Be aware, you may have to wait several days before you see your information added to the map.

Adding Addresses | nods I know, I have tracks going back several months which I still have to make use of. |

Local Chapters v2.0 - A standardised starting point for new contributors | The initial purpose is to answer a lot of the legal questions that have come up from various sectors with regards to local chapters e.g. use of the openstreetmap logo as one example. Once these questions are answered, it will possibly switch to looking at creating the right framework and tools for local chapters to be created. Something to remember, there is nothing to stop you setting up a mailing list, irc channel, forum etc for Kenyan members right now. Its what we have done for Ireland and it has worked well for several years so if you think there is a gap and it needs to be filled and would be of benefit to Kenyan members, then you should go right ahead with it. Folding all those things into an offical local chapter can always happen at a later date |

Local Chapters v2.0 - A standardised starting point for new contributors | By the looks of it you have done great work so far in Kenya. The local chapters working group has started back up again with a view to getting the local chapters question answered once and for all. The main issues are legal ones, which i won’t go into here, there is plenty on the wiki giving more details than I can, however once these main legal issues are sorted, the major road block for local chapters is then removed. At that point, I think we can then start looking at infrastructure in terms of communication / websites / forums etc. |

Adding Addresses | westis, There are no locations where I am surveying which does not have imagery I use a variety of methods when surveying, depending on the circumstances e.g. if I’m solely surveying in the car on the move I only use OSMTracker to collect details. I add that info later thought JOSM Walking around, I use OSMpad for addresses or vespucci for POI additions. I have keypadmapper on my phone, but havent gotten to using it yet. I missed Markus’ presentation at SOTM on it, as I’ve heard its quite good. |

Quality Assurance Feeds | This is excellent, nice work (love that you picked my home city too :) ) |

waze + google = good news for OSM | Firstly, as far as I am aware, the deal will not be “done” for a while yet, there are still anti-trust/anti-competition hurdles that have to be sorted first for Google but others more knowledgeable can correct me on that if I am wrong. Secondly, as well as this move denying competitors an opportunity, and removing another player from the field, I see this move by Google as achieving one main benefit for them and that is, they get an established and proven technology and more importantly they gain a user base with skills in mapping which will eventually feed into map maker edits even if they still leave Waze as a standalone entity. This allows them to increase the volume of user-generated data they have which only they have rights to and gradually allows them to remove data sources not owned by Google Long-term, I think you can expect to see Mapmaker, Google maps and Waze functionality all tied into a single app for your phone. What this will mean for OSM, who knows, likely very little. People who want open, will come to us, people who don’t know any better or don’t care will use the Google option because it will be better known |

It appears that OSM was used as a baselayer in Ivory Coast transit planning | Dropped Olivier Verscheure a mail to see if I can get a larger version of the image for use as a weekly featured image, nice spot |

Updated "no address" Layer on qa.poole.ch | Simon, I’ve been wondering if there’s a way to show the % of building’s with Vs without address information. I’m thinking some kind of graph would be best, something along the lines of a pie chart or simple line graph if historical information is available i.e. the growth of building ways and another line on the qty of buildings with address info. Not sure on the specifics, but I think something like that would be very useful |

Advanced rendering of tags | ha, love it! using the layer switcher on the right and melding the images of the golf course together is a great way to show what can be done with the same set of data in terms of rendering whats important to specific groups e.g. a golf website could use that type of rendering when including slippy maps showing the locations of golf courses. Very nicely done |

Looking for help tracing buildings in Galway City - aka Beginners Guide to MapCraft | osmisto, I am planning on tidying up the instruction above and also writting instruction for Mapcraft job owners on how best to setup and manage a job using that tool. By all means, feel free to translate it when Im done :) |

Updated "no address" Layer on qa.poole.ch | Nice work Simon, this will be very useful |

noaddress layer on qa.poole.ch | Nice one, can’t wait! |

noaddress layer on qa.poole.ch | Simon, Love your noname map and use it regularly to check on work I’ve done in case I missed something and need to go back and resurvey. I have a question though, why does the noaddress layer highlight landuse=residential as having a missing address? See here as an example Is it a case that the area is highlighted if there is nothing inside the area with addressing information? That is how it appears to me, just want to clarify. If that’s the case, then its immensely useful and thank you! |

The addressable map of Geneva, Switzerland, project | Nice work, I too am working on addressing for my city in Ireland. I noticed on your site, after I generate a QR code it states “Click with the write button on the QR Code image above and select “Save Image As…”.” This would be better written in English as follows: “Right-click on the QR Code image above and select “Save Image As” Just wanted to point that out. Nice work with the marker, so simple I wish it was on the main site |

Just started mapping actively in Brisbane - I have a few questions! | Take a look here for how I go about collecting addresses. Might not suit how you want to do it, but maybe you can get a few tips |

Editing: OSM's website vs Quest Map Open? | Hi chtfn, if you are going to use JOSM you should look at installin the building_tools plugin. It will make it a hundred times easier to add regular retangle/square buildings that look nice and tidy. For oddly shaped buildings have a look at the extrude tool to modify a building you’ve drawn with building tools Pop into the IRC chatroom for live help if you get stuck on anything |

Recent Addresses | Great to hear, the more the merrier….addresses that is ;) |
|
(Not yet) 1000 addresses | Nice work, I wrote a post similar to yours just yesterday, good to see more people getting on the addressing bandwagon :) |

Adding Addresses | Thanks Simon, Vespucci was what i meant above where I said OSMTracker. I’ll edit the post to correct that. Personally, I found it slow to add details when there was a new piece of information every few yards. Aagin, personnally, I would prefer to survey as much as possible during a survey and add the details later using JOSM |
