first steps in virgin territory

use JOSM, it's more clear what it really does with the data IMHO.

Barbados successfully sunken, #*@!+

sorry, didn't refresh the page. so you managed to do it, but I fixed the coastline to be smaller ways that are easier to manage. (Coastline can cope, Frederik and I designed it that way)

DO NOT undo your coastline edit. close potlatch or click the edit tab again. Others have fixed the coastline already.

Hello everybody

This is a FAQ.
In short:
Renderings happen once per week, you just missed the last update.
osmarender layer updates more frequently, check informationfreeway.org
Search wiki for "FAQ", "Glossary", "Slippy map"

There are plenty of white spots left in Bremen.

Second contribution

it's already recorded, you simply need to mark your edits public (permanently)

Multipolygon finally

I just noticed that you are in the Netherlands. The incredibly dense mapping there makes it quite hard to render quickly with osmarender, if at all on smaller Computers.

Multipolygon finally

if you don't edit nodes, it will not be catched by the autorequester, and you have to request the tiles on your own at http://informationfreeway.org/?lat=52.267063511227&lon=5.08171668031983&zoom=12

Cayman Islands still broken (one week later)

The coastline need not be a single closed way, as long as the parts of the coastline have no gaps (ie. the end node is the start node of the next way) and do not branch, and keep to the water-right-hand-rule.

Vogelfluglinie

Cayman Islands still broken (one week later)

I just checked the coastline and found it ran CW around the island, basically marking it as water in water.
I reversed it, and it should start to show up in osmarender soon-ish.

Cayman Islands still broken (one week later)

check in JOSM (with middle mousebutton) wether there is only one coastline. check further that the coastline ways are all facing counter-clockwise around land (so that water is to the right side of the way) and then check the way is indeed closed.

Scottish box

There is no privatised Mapping Agency yet in Germany, but it's fun, there are lots of Geocachers, and as already said by others, there has been quite the media coverage (several TV broadcasts, big radiostations, and a *lot* of online coverage)

Mapping in Waldshut-Tiengen

the "on the ground" rule of OSM discourages entering nonexistent roads.

If the road is already at construction stage there is the highway=construction tag.
