North-West Toronto is very incomplete

Posted by GRagib on 30 August 2008 in English.

Hi all,

I was looking at the Toronto area. I returned to this website after a long hiatus due to work related reasons. Anyways, I was really surprised to see the amount of coverage in the Toronto area. A lot of the streets have been traced; not named though for whatever reason. I am doing this for my neighbourhood right now, and I will expand my efforts as time permits.

Is there a systematic effort underway for mapping Toronto, or did we upload Geobase or similar data? I found that large patches north of the 401 and west of the 400 have yet to be mapped.

Thanks for any clues.

I was trying to name some of the streets in my neighborhood when I noticed some inaccuracies in the traces. We have lots of little streets around here where the name are different on different sides of an intersection. So, the segment of a road north of York Mills Road is known as Sandover Drive, while the segment south of it is known as Valley Woods Drive. In OSM, these two streets are the same trace. Is there any way to create a break in the trace so that the two names may be assigned to the appropriate segments?
