102636582 | almost 4 years ago | That's fair. Back in the day I kind of didn't care to expand beyond the immediate borders of my cities of interest and the areas where I biked to (Houcktown, Findlay, Bowling Green) until I found out that a local ISP and a BGSU professor were using it, so I felt like it would be good to provide them with some expanded data, and got a bit hooked again. |
102636582 | almost 4 years ago | Thanks! It's kind of relaxing for me strangely enough, so it's kind of a mutually beneficial activity for me. |
102636582 | almost 4 years ago | I'm busy with college too, so I totally understand. Earlier this year I said I was gonna get Williams county done by May. Given this conversation, it's probably a good thing I didn't! I knew they weren't always perfect, but I didn't realize they were considered junk. That's quite unfortunate, but if that's the reality then so be it. I was blown away by the Facebook presentation at SOTM US 2016, so perhaps I put too much faith in the tech due to the wow factor of the demonstration in a controlled environment. Given this info, I think I'll simply abstain from RapID entirely for normal editing, unless there's serious improvements with more community consensus, or if it's requested by HOT for a task or something like that. |
102636582 | almost 4 years ago | I took another look at RapID for the area, and the Microsoft footprints appear to line up well enough to Bing sat imagery and OSIP sat imagery for the kind of margin of error that I am used to working with. While I manually selected objects in RapID that I wanted to add to the map, I should acknowledge that my interpretations of imagery aren't perfect, and that may interfere with a more quality focused mapping style such as yours. Looking at what you've made here has seriously impressed me, and it is clear you are a skilled mapper who values data quality highly. I will refrain from using RapID in areas where you map without asking first to avoid such conflicts in the future. If I have any prior edits which you feel are not up to the quality you want from the area, please let me know and I will do my best to fix them. Thank you, and please accept my apologies. |
109332568 | almost 4 years ago | For this changeset in particular, OSIP imagery does not extend this far into Michigan, but I'm assuming you mean my other changesets regarding northwest Ohio. |
102636582 | almost 4 years ago | Ah, it looks like you've beat me to fixing it. I'll be reviewing my practices to see how I messed up this badly. |
102636582 | almost 4 years ago | Hello, Apologies that I missed this message. I'll review my changeset and fix any issues. Thank you for your time! |
109332568 | almost 4 years ago | Howdy! Sorry I'm not sure how I missed this message. It's a little more up to date, so I can see new construction. I do realize It's lower quality, and if you would prefer, I can change for this area. Thanks! |
