Hi Diacritic,
I've just added the 3 signposts around Pompei Bridge. Each one points "Bay Trail" on one finger and "Mordialloc Creek" on the other. I suggest that we terminate the 2 trails at the eastern-most sign since that is "on the ground", safe, links the 2 trails, still clearly on the Bay Trail physical infrastructure and is closest to Vicmap source.

FYI, I am cycling all the trails that you mention daily on my current work commute (Seaford-Cheltenham). Unfortunately I don't have a bracket to mount a phone for Kartaview capture; I'll see what I can do.

Hi again Diacritic. Would you point me to the "official" definition of the Bay Trail? The southern end is sign posted with 3 sign posts (verified still there) as going under Pompei Bridge and links to Mordialloc Creek trail. You've moved it to terminate in the middle of a busy road junction and there is no signage there (also verified). I'd like to move it back for safety and routing but want to consult with you first. The ambivalence I see is that the portion under the bridge may formally belong to the Mordialloc Creek path.

Hi,
My personal preference is to map clearly unpaved driveways (makes more sense in rural areas and suburban fringe) as tracks but I have absolutely no objection to this change as I am a visitor mapper (living nearby for a few months). Happy mapping!

Hi Ivan, Thank you for pointing this out. I have certainly made a mistake in moving the name "Ailinglaplap Atoll" from a duplicate node to the island polygon "place" tag instead of "name". What I forget is how I worked out the correct name. I will try and verify that from a non-copyright source before correcting it - there is a US library resource that I used I think. /Michael

A bit late to the party on this one, but the intent is to convey to the end user not other mappers that these are mine shafts or probably mine shafts, (I originally proposed "description"!). Using name when it generic is arguable, though OS certainly do; I can't see any problem with description. Final intent is to have an app that alerts interesting features when walking.

Thanks Lee, yes, exactly that. Corrected now. If you live in or frequently visit the area, some GPS tracks would be great. The different sets of aerial imagery all have different alignments and the tracks are super useful for correcting that.

PS. And perhaps highway=service, service=alley may be now more appropriate for the original way itself? Perhaps Belle Vue Terrace also?

Hi TrekClimbing and thank you for getting in touch. What you propose is probably best, particularly if you have resurveyed the location. I will have got the name from a sign so its "real" but I guess the exact location is pertinent. Perhaps name the actual terrace as well?

As an observation, I notice that as the original planners/builders/postmen did have the issue of precisely catagorising things for digital maps ... they didn't. That kind of leaves us to make the decision. For me, I'm fine with name paths, track, services roads in such cases - for me, preserving name is important as is navigational convenience - but I agree that is a matter of interpretation.

Hi Palolo, I mapped it in the early days of OSM when only landsat imagery was available - as an identification of ICAO code "HAML". I have no other local insight so I think it should be deleted (not doing it myself in case you have better insight). It is possible that the road immediately to the north follows the line of a former airstrip but clearly it is not that now. There is also a short linear feature just north of the road and "airstrip" at the far east end. Doubtful though with a tree very close to the middle part.

Hi, there are indeed two maypoles! Thanks for checking. The larger original is now in the middle of a flower bed. With a resurgence in maypole dancing, a second more accessible one was erected. One of them fell down a few months ago but has or will be put back.
