Forgot the changeset comment - add a modal filter on Hartington Road as per https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3951114
Change some footways someone created that need to link to the continuation road network for routing.

Brilliant, thanks! ID didn't warn me, but I noticed that OSMCha spotted an error.

@SK53 is there a reason why Ward boundaries aren't imported into OSM then?

Some of the "towns" and "suburbs" will correspond to ward names, but we shouldn't conflate them. If you click the "Query features" arrow at the bottom of the toolbox to the right of the OpenStreetMap map window and then select the Hounslow node you changed, you can see the enclosing features in the query results pane on the left. Here's the existing way for the London Borough of Hounslow:
osm.org/relation/51848#map=12/51.4617/-0.3526
The node you changed just shows the approximate centre of the town of Hounslow. These tend to be mapped as either place=town or place=suburb. Consistency is probably more important than semantics.
It would be lovely to have closed ways for the council wards (and Census Super Output Areas), but I imagine there isn't an open source for the boundaries or someone would have imported them already.

Yes, the Borough of Hounslow, on a map, would be represented by a closed way, this is a node representing the town of Hounslow.
I only just noticed that there were two changes in this changeset.
The place=suburb vs place=quarter for "Hounslow West" is more debatable, but unless there was an organised project to standardise this one way or the other, I'd be inclined to leave nodes untouched unless it was definitely wrong.

It's both, and in this case place=suburb is consistent with tagging elsewhere.

What is the justification for this change? Every other similar placename is tagged as a place=suburb?

Brilliant, thanks! I think I chose _rental because there was a query about this recently somewhere (maybe the OSM_UK mailing list?) but the 11 tags previously were all mine, I think!

Hi - I noticed that you have a typo in the node you added in this changeset. Also, though, you're using a tag that isn't documented yet (sorry, dunno the formal terminology) but I think these are worth mapping and I've been mapping them with amenity=escooter_rental.

Is there a particular reason to favour escooter_hire over escooter_rental? There are five more _rental tags than _hire tags at the moment!

Hi,

Welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Thanks for adding this node. No need to write such a long explanation in the comment.
Just one suggestion as you are a new mapper, it would really help with the map rendering and searches if you could indicate the type of organisation you are adding. You can see a list here:
osm.wiki/Map_features
It looks to me like office=lawyer looks appropriate here?

Ah sorry, I can often barely see my phone screen when using Vespucci - unfortunately I can't remember now where the gate was so I've deleted the tag from the way and I'll have to leave it to the next visitor to tag it.

PS thanks for fixing my error!

Hi mueschel,

It looks like you've introduced a tagging error here - would you mind fixing it (and checking if you've inadvertently changed any others?)

Thanks!
Steven
