Changeset When Comment

Welcome to OSM! I'd like to let you know that you should be using detailed changeset comments to explain what you've changed.

Also, "Starbase, Texas" has not been incorporated, and therefore this changeset was reverted by another mapper. Please refrain from making unsourced changes to the map.

Oh I also changed a couple roads to Tertiary north of Laurel.

You called way 14002295 a service road yet changed it from highway=track to highway=residential. I agree it's definitely not a track but maybe it should be service? I tried checking TIGER to see if the road has a name but it just says "Solitude Lake" which doesn't feel like a road name as much as it feels like the name of the lake this road goes around...

3 of those 4 websites are just using Google Maps as a source... and literally anyone can add an address, incorrect or otherwise, to Google Maps.

I used the wrong changeset comment on this one. I meant to say on the first half that I upgraded US 98 to trunk from McComb to Bude for the McComb to Natchez gap.

You marked South 3rd Street as covered. It's clearly not covered by any definition of the covered tag. I've removed this tag. I think maybe you thought the street tunneled for a second, but as a local of South Mississippi I'm 99% sure it doesn't.

Also, please square your buildings if that's a thing your map editor allows.

or it could be mangrove. osm.wiki/Tag:wetland%3Dmangrove I think a lot of the water in the area is Salt. Either way the landcover in this area is *not* really that simple.

Worth noting too that if it has trees it's still probably a wetland. Specifically a swamp. See osm.wiki/Tag:wetland%3Dswamp

Welcome to OpenStreetMap! In the future you should keep in mind a simple rule: 1 feature, 1 OSM element. Also, you should map lakes and reservoirs using their respective presets. If you apply the name to the body of water you create, it will show up on the map. No need to add several labels to it.

Hi! Welcome to OSM. If you intended to just add a name to this building, you did it right.

If you want to learn more about mapping OSM we'd love to have you on the OpenStreetMap.us Slack! You can join it here: https://slack.openstreetmap.us/

There are a few Mississippi mappers in #local-mississippi and #local-us-southeast

Hey it's been over three years but I just came across your edits here. Names should be an actual official name of something, not a descriptor. Like "Snacks" and "Drinks" on vending machines. The type of vending machine is implied by the tags, no need to put it in the name.

Well I'd hope the founder of OSM would stick around. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Coast

Private property or not, aerial imagery is public information and your privacy is NOT being violated by people using public maps to map your area. You have been told this before yet you keep deleting it.

Also, why did you change Leaf River from natural=water water=river to waterway=riverbank here. osm.org/way/276634778

Just wanted to mention you created an area around a substation(?) in Smith County Mississippi that you didn't give any tags.
Sorry to reply 2 years later but I just now came across it on the map.

Please try to keep edits you make in a single changeset close to each other. Everywhere between Jackson Mississippi and Macon Georgia will now see your edits as having been through their area, even if you never touched those places.

Also, please consider leaving actual descriptions of what you changed on each changeset. You haven't actually put a description for quite a long time if ever.

The thing is, that bus route does not exist anymore... Neither do any of the other bus routes. Mississippi State's bus system has changed a lot due to the massive construction projects in the center of campus. Now many of them have different paths and are named after where the route goes rather than colors. I'd take it up myself to try to update it but it's just a massive amount of changes because of how outdated the map is.
