Map Data

Posted by NathanO on 24 January 2008 in English.

I am new to OpenStreetMap.

At one time I was with a local Volunteer Fire Department. In Texas there are a number of Tax supported operations that update maps for emergency services and 911 use. These maps are updated several times a year. I was able to get the local map and with TurboCad read the format and convert it to DFX. I then could print out updated map pages and put sub-divisions that were spread out over two or more pages in the 'map books' that we were provided on to one 11 x 17 page.

This information should be able to be obtained by OpenStreetMap, and would help as it is much more accurate the the US Census Bureau data. There are a number of these operations in the state. For the San Antonio, Bexar Count, TX and the adjacent counties it is:

Bexar Metro 9-1-1 Network District
911 Saddletree Court
San Antonio, TX 78231-1523

There is a complete list of the districts for Texas at:
