Trans Pennine Trail additions

Posted by Neil Hoggarth on 21 August 2010 in English.

Went out a walking this morning and recorded a tracklog for the Trans Pennine Trail walking/cycling route between Halebank and Hunts Cross (UK, nr Liverpool). The various paths and roads that I covered are already on the map, but I've added them to the route relation:

osm.org/browse/relation/156407

Location: Halebank, Halton, Liverpool City Region, England, United Kingdom

I went for a little 16 mile stroll on Sunday. The route relation for the Wychwood Way is now contiguous and complete.

osm.org/?relation=111662

The Wychwood Way is a 37-mile (59km) circular walking route in Oxfordshire, UK, which explores the area of the ancient Royal Forest of Wychwood. It starts and finishes in the town of Woodstock.

Location: Woodstock, West Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England, United Kingdom

I explored and collected GPS traces for another substantial chunk of this walking route on Saturday, covering around 19 miles from Marlow to West Drayton (and so linking up with a section along the Grand Union canal which had already been tagged). I've now added this section to the route relation.

I found that from Cookham onwards the Shakespeare route follows the same footpaths as a local county council waymarked trail - the "Beeches Way", so I've created an (almost complete) route relation for this walk into the bargain:

Back to the Bard

Posted by Neil Hoggarth on 12 April 2010 in English.

Finally some decent walking weather in southern England this weekend! Came out of OSM hibernation and tackled 15 miles of the Shakespeare's Way long distance walking route, from Chipping Norton to Woodstock.

I can't find any waymarks for the route through Bleinheim Park or Woodstock town centre though, so I haven't quite managed to link up with the existing Woodstock to Oxford segment.

Location: Oldner House, Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England, OX7 5XH, United Kingdom

A couple of weeks ago I went exploring from Oxford along the Shakespeare's Way walking route, to see if I could link up the various segments that had already been mapped south of the city, and through the Baldons, Stadhampton, etc. I ended up extending the route as far as Chalgrove.

Yesterday I took the bus out to Chalgrove to continue the route south, through Brightwell Baldwin, Britwell Salome, and a section of the Ridgeway, getting as far as the bridleway going south-east out of Cookley Green. I then had to turn off the trail and race the fading of daylight to reach a bus stop at Nettlebed.

At Cookley Green the route shares paths with the Chiltern Way for a little while, so I've added the sections in question to both route relations.
