I am creating a map for older people to use to let them know where they can find accessible and welcoming places to visit in the London Borough of Hackney. Older people sometimes feel invisible, or a nuisance to the rest of society and this can lead them to stay indoors and become socially isolated. We are contacting cafes, restaurants and local businesses to find out what they can do to make their venue more ‘oldie-friendly’. This might include a café that lets an older person sit down and take a breather without having to make a purchase, or use the toilet without spending a penny! We’d love your help mapping Oldie-Friendly Hackney so please let us know if you, your organisation, or a venue you know is Oldie-Friendly.
