I fixed them, sorry about that!

Indeed I made some errors there. Sorry about that.

In fact I see the shelter and the bus stop as 2 distinct objects. The highway=bus_stop/public_transport=platform node as the point to represent the bus stop and the shelter area way as the place where people can take shelter from the elements.
Sometimes I use 1 node from the shelter's way for the highway=bus_stop. Maybe I shouldn't.

I realise it's possible to use shelter=yes on the highway=bus_stop node. But we're mapping in more and more detail all the time. In Belgium you'll often find a bench inside that shelter as well and a waste_basket next to it.

I don't think we should be limited in the amount of detail we can map.

On the other hand I'm also strongly convinced it's best using 1 OSM object per bus stop. In the route relations as well. In many parts around Europe I see a tendency to use 2 and then to add both of them the route relations.

I'm starting to describe this here:
osm.wiki/User:Polyglot/Bus_stops_and_routes

And I tried to create a manual here:
osm.wiki/JOSM/Plugins/PT_Assistant/Mapping_Public_Transport_with_JOSM

I also created some screencasts:

Hallo SB_10. Bedankt voor de aanzet van bus 430 van De Lijn. Ik heb op basis van hun data de rest ook ingetekend voor alle variantes.

I created a video about the PT_Assistant plugin. What do you think of it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt-Offxpplo

Hi Tomas, there are many kinds of shelters:osm.wiki/Key:shelter_type

Sorry, my Lithuanian isn't very good. (non existing actually). Do you mean you dislike I reused a node of a shelter for some of the stops?

Something really weird happened to that cycle route. Maybe I shouldn't be mapping when overly tired. (I'm always tired though...). Anyway, I fixed it by going back. I also looked at the other cycle routes and mended them where feasible.
Do you use JOSM? Could you install the PT_Assistant plugin and tell me what you think of how it handles cycle route relations? It's colouring the different 'legs' of where the route splits in different colours. Do you think this helps to map them? The plugin now also indicates when the bicycle and foot routes are not continuous. The problem with that is that very often they are and it's really hard to fix that. The idea was that a mapper would be notified of breaking bicycle and foot route relations when splitting ways, but there are a lot of 'false' positives and it already takes a long time to try and fix the public transport route relations.

I'm not sure we understand each other very well, but OK. As far as I'm concerned. If there is a node next to the way tagged

highway=bus_stop
public_transport=platform
bus=yes
name=
ref=
route_ref=
operator=

The stop is mapped. If there is an actual platform, it's great to map it as a way, but I wouldn't add those ways to the route relations. For that matter I wouldn't add the stop_positions to the route relations either, just the platform nodes, but for some reason that's not how it's on the wiki. I won't be mapping too much anymore in this region, so no worries. I mostly wanted to get an idea how bus stops and routes are mapped in different areas.
If you would feel like having a Hangout or Skype chat, I'm game.

Of course I think it's acceptable or I wouldn'tbe doing it. I agree the changesets are big and it would be better that locals do them.
They take hours of time to work on though. Splitting ways has the consequence of affecting several other route relations, which in turn need to checked too.
I see it as a form of quality control.
I do agree that adding public_transport=platform to the bus_station was probably not the best solution. It would be far better to have a public_transport=platform node and add those to the route relations, but that is information that I don't have and in this case it could also not be inferred from what was already mapped previously. So there is still a lot of work to do for you guys. I hope the JOSM's PT_Assistant pluign can help you do that in a more efficient way.

I started doing this in bus stations, but I'm convinced that it makes a lot of sense at the beginning and end of the routes.
I'm 'traveling' around the world to test the PT_Assistant plugin and also to see how public transport is being mapped in different places.

I tried to make things right again using the reverter plugin for JOSM and doing a partial upload of that way.

51015481 almost 8 years ago

I started by downloading a skeleton with the public transport route relations of Aachen. I started doing validation on it and fixed some errors.
Those bus routes seem to go far.
I did notice some ways were missing, but I hadn't realised I was the one who deleted it. Sorry about that. When I had conflicts, I resolved them in favour of the last user, then restarted validation, until most errors were resolved.

Now I start to understand what went wrong. I did a search to find all the roundabouts that were members of modified bus route relations to add them to the todo list. Because I wanted to test the split roundabout functionality of PT_Assistant. I must have moved them inadvertently while they were still selected.

I'll do what I can to fix this tomorrow.

I'm not sure how that went so wrong. I restored the relation and fixed it where it was broken: osm.org/relation/7372053/history Sorry for the trouble.

Je hebt waarschijnlijk gelijk. Ik zal voor die regio de fietsrelaties ook nakijken. De plugin moet deze zomer ook uitgebreid worden, zodat de mapper te weten komt dat dit gebeurt.
Mijn excuses hiervoor.

Thanks! Now they won't be reported by JOSM's validator rules coming from PT_Assistant plugin anymore!

Yes, little by little. In fact I'm preparing a new GSoC project: osm.wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2017/JOSM_Plugins Trying to find issues with the PT_Assistant plugin
