I’ve always been fascinated maps, navigation and navigation tools, aviation, radio communications, design, modern technology, that sort of thing.

I’m glad to be able to contribute to OpenStreetMap as a hobby, mostly mapping from my neighborhood outwards, as well as other places I visit. It’s cool to get to know the details of places as seen from above.

My processes as of July 2021:

• Use Mapwith.ai to confirm buildings, then clean them up by hand or add details prior to committing them to the map, or
• Create paths and objects by hand based on satellite imaging and real-life experience.
• Use GPS tracks where needed to complete the above points. I either use an app on my iPhone to record, or a Garmin eTrex 20.
• I don’t enjoy addressing buildings. I’m a designer so I think the process of adding objects is enjoyable and somewhat meditative, but addressing is painstaking!
