It stands where the liberating British forces were greeted by the Guernsey people in 1945. It is a sundial and consists of 50 layers of Guernsey granite and is five meters high. On the 9th May each year, the shadow of the obelisk falls on inscriptions on the granite seating marking the events of Liberation Day 1945. A community project by www.submarine.gg.
