31570085 | about 10 years ago | Ah ok. Sounds like some other smaller ones we have in Manhattan too. Which actually... I think a couple of them are mapped as mini roundabouts when they really shouldn't be. I should get on that :) I think according to the wiki, what you have done now should be fine. Of course now it doesn't render on the map like the mini roundabout did. Oh well, we map according to reality, not the renderer :) |
31570085 | about 10 years ago | Hi. I'm a mapper a few miles down I-70, in Manhattan. Thanks for your contribution to the map! Question about this roundabout: Is it truly a "mini" roundabout? Technically this has a specific meaning and is (in my experience) mostly found in Europe. Mini roundabouts do not have a raised center island but rather just paint. This allows trucks to pass straight through them. See the OSM wiki for more details: osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dmini_roundabout If it is a true roundabout with a raised center, it should ideally be mapped as a circular way. See this one I did in Manhattan: osm.org/#map=18/39.18675/-96.56169 |
30673637 | about 10 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Thank you for your contributions. I must point out that in this changeset you performed one change that was incorrect and most likely unintended. You removed the name=Spokane tag from the Spokane city border relation. I noticed this problem because when doing a location lookup via the Nominatim geocoder, it returned "ספוקיין" instead of "Spokane" - it turns out this is the Hebrew name for Spokane and Nominatim is falling back to that because there is no name tag but there is a name:he tag on the city border. I will fix this error in the next few minutes. |
30602994 | about 10 years ago | And there's my "duh" moment for the day. The node I linked above is no longer visible because I deleted it after transferring the information to the way. I guess you can still see what was there in the history view... osm.org/node/1725731885/history |
30602994 | about 10 years ago | Hi. Thanks for your contribution to OSM. I noticed this edit because you made an addition in Manhattan, KS in addition to the work in Nepal. While this isn't a huge problem, I would suggest trying to keep edits geographically related and hit the save button before you jump to a new location. The other issue is that you added a building outline for Dirty Dawg Saloon which is fine work. But you did leave the point that was representing it before so now it is mapped twice. There is address information on the point that needs to be preserved and moved to the building outline. I will fix it - just thought I'd let you know :) The existing point:
The outline that you added:

30556845 | over 10 years ago | I have reverted this edit in changeset 30559410. |
30020859 | over 10 years ago | Ok, I believe I have corrected all of the incorrectly merged names. |
30020859 | over 10 years ago | Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Question: what exactly were you trying to do with this edit? The Go Map!! app seems to have glitched somehow and you ended up tagging a bunch of roads around Coventry as parks with the name "Bell Green Wildlife Conservation Area". We will work on cleaning up the errors but if we know what you were TRYING to do, it might help the process. |
30240659 | over 10 years ago | To add a building, use the "Area" tool at the top of the editor window to trace the outline of the building. Then you can add a name or whatever else to that area. If you want some real-time help, feel free to hop on the OSM IRC channel at http://irc.openstreetmap.org |
30240659 | over 10 years ago | There is registration for a camp set up in the middle of a road intersection? What are you trying to add to the map? |
30047023 | over 10 years ago | Hi. Welcome to the OpenStreetMap project. It seems you have some questions about it? Please take a look at the OSM wiki: osm.wiki/ Also, you can hop on IRC if you want to carry on a real-time conversation with some people: irc.openstreetmap.org It looks like this edit just added an empty point to the map. I will remove it since it isn't actually mapping anything. |
29940295 | over 10 years ago | Hi. Thanks for your interest in OpenStreetMap. This looks like a test edit for something. What are you trying to accomplish? I notice you put a webstie=google.com tag on the node you added. I'm guessing that was just a placeholder for an example website. But please note that we can not copy information from google maps or other places without explicit permission. |
29788568 | over 10 years ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for your first edit. It looks like you got the church put in perfectly. It looks like you tried to add a cemetery as well but it ended up as an empty node, not marked as a cemetery. I think the editor is missing a preset. You need to search for "graveyard" instead of "cemetery" in the editor in order to correctly tag this. Please give it another shot. :) |
29291321 | over 10 years ago | In this case it looks like cleaning up misspellings of the "natural" tag which looks ok to me. But I agree, please include a useful changeset comment. Especially when doing edits that affect a large area like this. |
29070340 | over 10 years ago | The width of a given road on the map is a rendering issue. You are changing the map data in order to affect the rendering. We call this "tagging for the renderer" and there is a wiki page about it :) osm.wiki/Tagging_for_the_renderer OSM should reflect "ground truth." The rendering on osm.org is unimportant at the end of the day. If you go to open.mapquest.com or a Mapbox map or whatever, they may render different roads at different widths than osm.org anyway. All that being said, it looks like the main road in the park WAS tagged as a service road which was indeed incorrect. I have retagged it as an "unclassified" road. I also added some other details that I saw in Bing aerial imagery. Please feel free to review this if you have first hand knowledge of the area. You might have to do a force-reload in your browser to get the latest map with my changes. Did you get the road that you wanted deleted? I'm not quite sure which one you are talking about. If you can't figure it out, please use the speech bubble button over on the right to create a note exactly where the change needs to happen and I'll see what I can do. By the way, the reason I noticed your edit is that I am in Manhattan, KS and generally try to keep en eye on things in Kansas. So again, welcome to the OSM project :) |
29070340 | over 10 years ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap. Thank you for your edits! Question: You upgraded some roads to "tertiary." Is this appropriate? Tertiary roads are intended to be used on collectors or county highway type roads. These appear to be fairly minor roads that should probably be "unclassified." That one at the top, leading to the docks might even be a service road, in my opinion. |
27802603 | over 10 years ago | Thanks for your additions to the map! Note that in OSM we prefer to not use abbreviations. Please spell out Street, Road, Drive, etc. It is easier to automatically abbreviate things for display than it is to try to automatically expand abbreviations correctly. Is "St" Street or Saint? :) |
27576194 | over 10 years ago | Thank you for this addition. It is very well mapped, complete with address. One question: shouldn't this be "Holiday Inn Express"? |
27045490 | over 10 years ago | Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thank you for adding things in Oswego. I'm a mapper up in Manhattan, KS. One note: You are putting the word "building" in the name field. This is not quite right. It looks like most of the buildings you added are residential homes. They should not have anything in the name field. Things like churches, businesses and schools should have the name of whatever occupies the building. Typically the "name" field is only used when there is some kind of sign with that name on it, visible from the street. Please feel free to send me a message through OpenStreetMap if you have any questions. |
26655527 | over 10 years ago | Your edits have recently come up in discussion on the talk-us mailing list. One thing that would help in discussing them is including a useful changeset comment that indicates why you are making the change and/or the source of the information. Please consider doing so in the future. Thanks. |
