45465516 | over 7 years ago | Most of this user's edits have been reverted as pokemon vandalism. |
57167018 | over 7 years ago | In aerial imagery this looks like a parking area. It is certainly not a meadow. What are you TRYING to map here? Or is it just trying to manipulate pokemon? |
55382477 | over 7 years ago | We can not use any Google data to modify OpenStreetMap. This is a copyright violation. We can only use primary sources (your own eyes) or any source of data who has given us EXPLICIT permission to use their data. Also, it seems like you deleted some data on this outline: osm.org/way/64972205/history It used to be a building with a supermarket. After your edit it is just a generic landuse=retail area. Is this correct? Did the store close and was the building torn down? |
51286668 | over 7 years ago | This edit has been reverted. You deleted a lot of useful information. I suspect you may not have realized that this is a shared database and the changes you made affected everyone, not just your local copy of the map. |
55787649 | over 7 years ago | You seem to have marked a lot of parks as recreation grounds. I do not believe that this is correct usage of the tag. Please read this wiki page about the recreation ground tag: osm.wiki/Tag:landuse%3Drecreation_ground It is a somewhat disputed tag but if anything, it might be appropriate to apply to specific areas within parks that are intended fro specific recreation activities but certainly not the entire park. |
55983533 | over 7 years ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thank you for your contributions! I do have a question: What is the "AACI Area" supposed to be? You marked it as a triangular building that seems to conflict with an existing building and a parking lot. Note that the AACI itself is already mapped as this node here: osm.org/node/4944392383 |

55164911 | over 7 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Thank you for your addition of this building. However in this changeset you somehow managed to add this building to the administrative boundary relation for Riverside, Missouri and the United States. These boundary relations are what define the city/state/country borders so this edit is not correct. I will be undoing it shortly. |
44150354 | over 7 years ago | So here's a neat trick. See this route: osm.org/directions?engine=osrm_car&route=-30.935%2C141.256%3B-30.916%2C141.249 Then switch from "Car (OSRM)" to "Car (GraphHopper)". Obviously different routing algorithms handle gates differently. And I also figured out some odd behavior in BaseCamp last night. That same trip will follow the GraphHopper route. But if you set the destination further north to where it MUST go through a gate because there is no other way, then it will suddenly be happy to route through ALL gates along the way and will take the OSRM path. Anyway, thanks for the information. I'm still waiting on a response back from the person who complained about it to see if some of these gates have been converted to cattle grids or if an explicit access tag should be added. Considering the differences between routers, an explicit access tag is probably a good idea, regardless. |
55367616 | over 7 years ago | Paul, first of all, your original changeset comment is not really appropriate. The edit was not malicious. There is a legitimate difference of opinion on the subject. And to be honest I'm having a little trouble seeing it your way. As has been pointed out, every single sign directing drivers to this stretch of road either says "Creek Turnpike" or just "Turnpike": https://www.mapillary.com/app/?pKey=dwgCqidfdOdSkvEtl727ag&focus=photo
I can't even make out any signs that say Liberty Parkway on them in any Mapillary pictures. I think I spotted the two signs but the font is not big enough to resolve the letters in the images. If someone gets on in the middle of this stretch they will never see those signs and will think "what the hell is Liberty Parkway? OSM is wrong!" I would totally open a note in that situation. To me, it is much like the "Coach Bill Snyder Highway" around here:
It is basically an honorary title for the road and I would not change the name of the way because of it. I actually haven't mapped this one at all (shame on me) but I would probably do it as a relation with name=Coach Bill Snyder Highway. since it follows 2 or 3 different state/federal highways along its course. |
44150354 | over 7 years ago | Do you happen to remember details about this changeset? You mapped several barrier=gate objects like this: osm.org/node/4537155778 Someone from that area contacted the Data Working Group complaining that their Garmin was refusing to route through these gates. This person seemed to indicate that they were cattle grids, not gates. Of course their Garmin BaseCamp is also showing them as bollards, while mine just says "Land feature" so I'm still not entirely sure what is going on. But if they are actual gates along a road that is open to the public, they should probably have an access tag on them to indicate that routing software can go through them. Thoughts? |
55310536 | over 7 years ago | A couple of tips: Roads that connect to each other should be connected in OSM. So for example this road should have a connecting point with 150th Street: osm.org/way/552024452 (and with the cycle path along it for that matter too) If there is no connecting point, routing software won't know that you can move from one road to another. That road should probably also be split at the 4 way intersection since I'm guessing the name changes for the north/south and the east/west ones. Also, the editor has some tools to help you make square corners (if the buildings really are square): Right click on the building outline and use the "Square" button. Other than that, looking good. I just saw this link on Reddit the other day. Might be worth a quick watch to see some examples of how to do things in OSM: https://www.reddit.com/r/openstreetmap/comments/7p1ps6/first_batch_of_little_vids_for_beginners_is_there/ |
55147739 | over 7 years ago | Thanks for the tip. I had wondered about the Pizza Hut at one point but I don't think it was added by one of the obvious vandal accounts so I wasn't entirely sure what was going on. I have removed it. |
55203669 | over 7 years ago | Weird. Last night I saw some people add a bunch of random stuff last night as amenity=place_of_worship as well. I think that was in India though. |
55200910 | over 7 years ago | Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap. I see you came here because of Pokemon. Please note that anything you add to OSM MIGHT show up in Pokemon within weeks or months. No one knows how often Niantic updates their data. So please do not map things with the intent of manipulating Pokemon Go. This edit is not entirely correct. I'm not sure if you are trying to game the Pokemon system or if you just aren't aware of how to map things which is fine. But the two bodies of water you added as pods should be tagged as swimming pools. I am also not convinced that the green space really qualifies as a "park". Please review the wiki page about parks: osm.wiki/Tag:leisure%3Dpark I am going to go ahead and clean up these errors. |
55174096 | over 7 years ago | Hi, welcome to OpenStreetMap. I see you haven't actually made any successful changes yet but it looks like you may be attempting a data import. Please be aware that data imports are not easy to do right and I will add that the ArcGIS editor is probably not the right tool to do it with. I have seen multiple failed imports because ArcGIS does not understand some of the limitations of the OSM API when it comes to large data sets. Please read the import guidelines on the wiki before trying to upload any imported data to OSM: osm.wiki/Import/Guidelines Lastly, if you wish to test upload methods or play more with ArcGIS without breaking the map data in OSM, you can use the test API instance. The main test instance can be found at https://master.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/ |
55152075 | over 7 years ago | You seem to be adding a lot of things as a place of worship. This tag is intended for things like churches, mosques and temples. This Nova Boys Hostel does not seem to fit this classification. |
55151053 | over 7 years ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap. What kind of GIS training are you doing? You seem to be adding a few things that seem odd. You have added a couple of things as a place of worship when they seem to be offices or companies. Are these two banks actually here? Please keep in mind that you are not editing a private copy of the map. When you save your changes, they are published for the whole world to see. |
