147399050	over 1 year ago	Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! In this changeset, the tags from the original way got added to the newly merged way. However, this included tags like `bridge=yes` and `layer=1` which should not be applied to the entire way, as the bridge part is only a short section of the road: osm.org/way/96549868/history/9 In a follow up changeset, I have reverted the merging of the way and created a relation instead: osm.org/relation/17206126

As OpenStreetMap is a collaborative project, any documents used as sources need to be publicly accessible. The shared Google Docs link does not seem to be accessible to everyone, so it should not be used as a source. Additionally, names added to OpenStreetMap need to match the official name as displayed on a board. As the names of the residential areas do not officially include the word "slum", it should not be added in OpenStreetMap. Hence, I have reverted this incorrect name change. 146088433	over 1 year ago	Thanks for fixing the area around Kogilu Cross. A small suggestion, the roads around the junction could be tagged as `highway=unclassified`. `highway=service` is relevant when the road is meant to access a particular service (like a petrol pump), but `highway=unclassified` can be more relevant for generic roads like these ones (despite them being colloquially referred to as service roads). More details can be found on this Wiki page: osm.wiki/India/Tags/Highway#Frontage_roads I have retagged the relevant roads as `highway=unclassified` in this changeset already: osm.org/changeset/146105647#map=16/13.1048/77.5957 If `highway=service` still seems more appropriate based on local knowledge, I'd be happy to revert the tagging back to `highway=service`
145842963	over 1 year ago	1. It's good to align with the base whenever possible, but not absolutely necessary. Like you mentioned, for non-highrise buildings where there may not be a clearly identifiable base, the outline of the roof would be good enough. 2. `covered` corresponds to whether the road is covered by something in real life or not. Basically, think of it as the road having shelter (people wait here when it rains). In most cases this may not be identifiable just based on satellite imagery, but would need local knowledge/survey.
145842963	over 1 year ago	Hello. Great work mapping all these details! Few suggestions for improving the map details: 1. After tracing the building outline based on the roof shape, it is a good idea to move the way slightly, so that it aligns with the base of the building: osm.wiki/Roof_modelling#Typical_errors_in_the_interpretation_of_roof_geometry_from_aerial_images 2. Multiple roads have a `layer=` tag in this changeset. Unless the ways are physically below/above ground level, there is generally no need to add a `layer=` tag. In case they are below/above ground level, it may be a good idea to include a `tunnel=yes` or `bridge=yes` tag on the road. If it happens that the road is covered but not physically below ground, use `covered=yes` instead. 3. Since the roads are internal to a private complex and are behind a `barrier`, it may be a good idea to include an `access=*` tag, such as `access=permissive` Happy Mapping!
