Jakarta

Welcome to a great project. Just be warned: this can addictive, especially if you have a large blank space to fill.

Somersham again - still bigger than I expected

I have sent emails to local parish councils with a little bit of interest. One problem I have found is the the editors of parish websites sometimes only have a very limited understanding of HTML, so adding an OpenLayers slippy map is asking too much. Some also use Content Management Systems, so they can only add text or pictures. My point is that using OSM on a website has not proved very easy for Jo Average amateur webmaster.

Aslockton and Whatton - mostly done

I think you need to set the projection to Mercator, which is the projection used on the slippy map.

A few more street names

One part of the street could be in a relation and the other part not, for example part of a cycle route or a bus route. If that is the case you should not join the two sections. If in any doubt leave them as two parts and add the name tag to each part.

Friedhöfe

Many cemeteries in UK are run by the local council with no religious connection. Sometimes there are specific areas for Muslim or Jewish burials within the cemetery. Cemeteries around churches adopt the religion of the place_of_worship.

Sorry, I don't speak (or write) much German.

First trace attempt Schaep en Burgh

I don't think the weather affects accuracy much. Tree cover certainly does. Satellite positions vary all the time so good reception varies with time. Some places need many traces to get an average track.

Who is adding administrative boundaries ?

It looks like someone has created a user 'anonymous' ...

Straßenerfassung: Niederkassel und Lülsdorf (Nordrhein-Westfalen)

Wenn Sie machen einen Link zu der Karte, konnen wir die Namen von Straßen lesen. :-)

Entschuldigung für meine schlechte Deutsch.

How to name holes in areas?

You need to add a tag to describe the contents of the inner area. Maybe natural=heath or natural=scrub or if it is very wet then natural=marsh. This may give the renderer something to name.

Entire neighborhood is off...

You can select multiple ways and nodes in JOSM and drag them. This has the advantage that you only save the changes back to the database when you are happy with it. See the wiki page for more info.

How long does it take to see the result of the changes

The default for the view is a layer called Mapnik. This only gets rendered (redrawn) once each week. On the right there is a blue tag with a + sign. Click this to change the base layer to Osmarender which gets rendered more often.

You can request a new render in Osmarender at http://www.informationfreeway.org/ To do this zoom to zoom level 12, move the red box over the area you want to render and press 'r'. The rendering process is under pressure and could take a few hours.

Night hospital'er

Mapping the insides of buildings would be tricky, both to the gather the data and to represent it. There is a proposal: entrance

Tiles At Home

The time taken to render TAH just gets longer and longer. I have just looked at a tile that is not very complex was requested yesterday and still not complete. It was first taken about 18 hours ago. A couple of months ago it would have taken half an hour. There was talk on the mailing lists about adding local disks to the server to speed it up (rather than using network disks), but I haven't seen any progress mentioned. I don't have the resources to run TAH and I'm grateful for the efforts from so many people, but the server is letting them down.

Found OSM yesterday

Careful, it's addictive ...

Plant Nursery

There's a proposal for landuse=plant_nursery, so I'd use that.

Yemen

Firstly, I don't know the area at all so I can only comment in general. The streets join up at junctions which is good. The dual carriageway does not join at one end. There seems to be a lot of primary and secondary roads, which may be right, but you might like to read the wiki and come a decision about how the Yemen roads correspond to the highway settings. You might like to write this up in the Wiki for anyone else mapping Yemen to use and comment on. There are not many names on roads yet. Street names add great value to the map. Named streets can then (usually) be one OSM way. There a couple of ways that do not have a highway= tag so they don't yet show up.

Overall it is a great start and looks like a good base to grow on. Well done for starting in a blank area which can be daunting.

Rochdale Canal

I think the waypoints are filtered out in the upload process. Try opening the GPX file directly in JOSM where they do appear.
