What is the reason for changing the South Shore Line to usage=main? This does not carry long-distance traffic.

Hi mrhercli89,

I see that several independent municipalities and charter townships have been changed to place=suburb in this changeset. This doesn't appear to match the OpenStreetMap definition of "suburb", which is a section of a city, akin to what we might call a district, ward, or borough in North American English. Suburbs elsewhere in North America are not tagged like this. This is affecting renderers like OpenStreetMap Americana, where places like Livonia, Dearborn and Hamtramck are missing from the map entirely [1].

The previous place tagging was appropriate. Could you please revert these changes?

I went ahead and removed this polygon: osm.org/changeset/152512865

A business service area is generally not suitable to be added to OpenStreetMap. If your business has a physical location that's open to the public, I suggest mapping that instead.

Hi someone123457 and welcome to OSM!

How come FM 1151 was changed from secondary to trunk here? It doesn't appear to be a major through route between metropolitan centers.

Hi homeslice60148,

I came across this edit when investigating the changing of the ref value on this stretch of road to "SH" then back to "TX". There's now an ongoing discussion of which one should be considered correct. I invite you to join in if you have any opinions or insights.

Hi jakTTU2020,

Your changes here caught the attention of another mapper when they noticed "SH" was changed back to "TX" on certain segments of State Highway 195. There's now an ongoing discussion of which one should be considered correct. I invite you to join in if you have any opinions or insights.

Interesting. My understanding is that we tag roads as tolled if there is no way to travel on them without passing through a toll booth before or after. It appears that the eastbound segment of 56 from Galena Boulevard to I-88 would qualify, as well as the westbound segment from I-88 to the first right-in-right-out intersection at Golf View Road.

Mind if I post this to the Slack to get more perspectives on it?

Hi Meagan,

Are you sure this segment of 56 is untolled? Signage seems to indicate that Galena Boulevard is the last exit before it becomes a toll road [1]. It appears that there's no way to travel on the part between Galena Boulevard and the I-88 merge without having to go through a toll booth somewhere.

Just a typo, thanks for catching. Should be railway=disused.

I've already told you not to message me in private. While this is a public communication medium, perhaps my intent wasn't clear enough. Do not leave comments on my changesets, unless they're relevant to my mapping.

> Is this new tracking tag only to be used on individual mapped panel assemblies like here or can it also be used on farms?

generator:solar:tracking=* should be used on panels only. Perhaps plant:solar:tracking=* could be used on farms, though keep in mind that solar farms occasionally have more than one tracking technology within them.

> BTW, a 'no' on roof mounted panels is a bit of a stretch on my imagination

I'm not sure what makes it a stretch; can you clarify?

Hi Kevin,

I see you've added a few relations here representing the future route of Interstate 27. Are there signs on the ground, or is this just a legislative designation right now? If it's signed, then the tags should be network="US:I:Future", ref="27". Otherwise, the tags should be network="US:I", fut_ref="27" (with ref empty). Currently, the wrong Interstate shield is showing up on renderers like Americana: https://zelonewolf.github.io/openstreetmap-americana/#map=13.45/35.26527/-101.83976

Hi Dartmouthmapmaker. I noticed you changed ref="102" to ref="NS 102" on the relation here. This full text displays inside the shield icon in renderers like Americana [1] that take the ref from relations instead of ways. The tag network="CA:NS:H" supplies enough information for the renderer to determine that it's a Nova Scotia 100-series highway—no prefix needed.

Are the roads within parks really considered toll roads? Typically we use toll=yes if you have to pay each time you pass through the booth, and fee=yes if you purchase a duration-based permit to enter.

The Transbay Terminal is a passenger bus station, not an employees-only garage as in the example given. This roadway has high importance to bus passengers and prohibits all other traffic, which should qualify for highway=busway.

Hi there. What is the source behind the name change of Tower 12 to "Wabash-Van Buren Switching Station"? Moreover, where did the terminology "switching station" come from? I don't think this junction is known by any other name than Tower 12.
