Retagging these underground train stations to building=no + railway=station has introduced duplicate station objects with labels, and doesn't match up with how underground buildings are mapped elsewhere; see https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/11Cc |

92463150 | over 4 years ago | Hi LQconcern and welcome to OpenStreetMap! OSM is a map that anyone can edit. Next time you have an issue with the way someone else has mapped your local area, I'd suggest trying to fix it yourself first (it's easy, no hassle). And your criticisms may be right, but it wouldn't hurt to be more constructive and positive in your critique—we're all trying to improve the map here. As a side note, Google Maps has copyright license restrictions that make it unsuitable to use as a source for mapping things on OpenStreetMap. I know you haven't started mapping yet, but I thought I'd mention that in case you were interested in doing more improvements to your local area. Best, Clay |
74021686 | over 4 years ago | Hi tguen, What was the purpose behind changing all these nodes to railway=tram_crossing and railway=tram_level_crossing? Are these tags used anywhere else? They don't render nor seem to be recognized by any software. |
95521344 | over 4 years ago | Hi greenorangeparrot, Looks like you changed the public_transport=stop_position nodes at the Charlottesville Amtrak station to public_transport=platform. Was this intentional? I'm going to go ahead and revert those nodes, though let me know if there was a reason behind that. -Clay |
95440184 | over 4 years ago | Could you please specify what that reason is, and what project you are using OSM for? |
95674684 | over 4 years ago | Hi Danmuoki, Looks like you accidentally changed the entire city of Nairobi into a building. I went ahead and reverted that for you. Best, Clay |
95173589 | over 4 years ago | Google Maps is not an acceptable source for OpenStreetMap data. While it may be easily available for free, its copyright license is unfortunately incompatible with OpenStreetMap. You may not use data copied or derived from Google Maps or Google Street View in OpenStreetMap. Have you been using Google data as a source for mapping? If so, to what extent? |
30072212 | over 4 years ago | I recently added milepost data to the Northeast Corridor based on FRA GIS data. I only added mileposts every 5 miles to save time, though the original data source has them for every mile if needed. |

94644740 | over 4 years ago | The diagram in the wiki is helpful for tagging a simple above-ground railway station. Thanks for pointing out that the diagram is inadequate for underground stations. One of these days I'll get around to adding a tagging diagram for a complex underground station to the wiki. The excavated areas containing indoor railway infrastructure would be considered underground buildings. They may contain many indoor areas and railway platforms inside them. Consider looking at other underground stations, such as Grand Central Terminal in NYC or the stations along the Market Street Subway in SF, on http://openlevelup.net/ to understand the tagging scheme involved. Have you discussed with any other mappers what constitutes an underground building versus an underground indoor area? If this tagging scheme seems strange to you, perhaps you could bring it up on the tagging mailing list. |
94644740 | over 4 years ago | Hi, How come you added railway=station and removed building=train_station from an underground building outline? There is already a railway=station node describing Millennium Station. Station buildings and stations are two different things. |
94710940 | over 4 years ago | As you can see, I replied to the update. You still haven't addressed why you are creating multiple alt accounts. |
94710539 | over 4 years ago | addr:city typically indicates the post office that is assigned to serve a particular address. Not every municipality has its own post office. In this case, Erie's post office seems to serve smaller neighboring municipalities. |
94710940 | over 4 years ago | You've been creating multiple alt accounts to avoid responding to other mappers. I don't think you're in a position to determine what is and isn't vandalism. |
94230175 | over 4 years ago | Hi Meng, Do you have any evidence that this street name was incorrect? Correct names should not be deleted even if they seem to be profane to you. This street name was added by someone who appears to have the surname Butt. Have you tried contacting him about the name of this street? |
93652012 | almost 5 years ago | Hi there. Did you mean to add a new passenger train route to a short spur track in Arborfield? This relation contains only one way and has no tags other than type=route + route=train: |
93150703 | almost 5 years ago | Looks like you accidentally changed the relation for the BNSF Aurora Subdivision to route=train. This relation describes railway infrastructure, not a passenger train, so I reverted it to route=railway. Let me know if you have any questions. |
