Access=no implies that a road is closed, not that pedestrians are prohibited. If you want to add a tag to indicate that pedestrians are not allowed on a road, use the tag foot=no.

Is this train ferry still there? If it's historic and doesn't exist anymore (especially since the Pennsylvania RR is long gone), it should be added to OpenHistoricalMap instead of here on OSM.

Again, this should not be tagged as motorway due to the presence of at-grade intersections. Please change it back to trunk. Thanks!!

Again, this section of the TSP should not be tagged as motorway since it has at-grade intersections. Please change this back to trunk. Thanks!

I noticed that you upgraded the section of the TSP between Harlemville Road and Rigor Hill Road from trunk to motorway, despite the fact that there are at-grade intersections on this stretch of the parkway, which means that motorway is not the correct tag here. I will be changing that section of road back to trunk.

Hi, I responded to this here:
osm.wiki/Talk:Oregon/Highway_Classification#US_730

117441495 over 3 years ago

I thought we'd agreed on #local-oregon on Slack to not have WA 730 be trunk because its functional class is not principal arterial and WA doesn't consider it to be a Highway of Statewide Significance. Instead, it was decided to tag OR 11/WA 125 as trunk to provide a connection between Portland and Walla Walla.

The wiki has stated for years that only the motorway tag implies anything about the physical attributes of a road, and all the other highway=* tags (trunk, primary, secondary, etc.) indicate the importance of the road in the road network. Just because a road is built as a divided highway doesn't always mean that it's more important than a two-lane road.

>So if a road is paved but not open for public, a bridge structure is complete but not open for public, should we remove construction tag and add tag Access=no?

I think that's fine. In fact, I've often seen that done in other countries like Germany.

@stevea, I'm okay with you changing the tags to railway=light_rail as long as we tag it in such a way to indicate that it's not yet open to the public.

117176660 over 3 years ago

And it's currently being used by light rail trains only, not by heavy rail trains. I strongly disagree with the current tagging of railway=rail.

117176660 over 3 years ago

Is there any reason why this can't just be tagged as railway=light_rail but with an access=no tag to indicate that it is not open to the public? I disagree with tagging as railway=rail because it is not heavy rail.

When you downgrade a road from trunk, please add the expressway=yes tag if it is a divided highway like this one. Thanks!!

116688312 over 3 years ago

Hi, when you downgrade a road from trunk to primary, make sure to add the expressway=yes tag if it's a divided highway like this one. This will preserve the physical characteristic of expressway that was formerly indicated by use of the trunk tag.

Also, are you using this wiki page as a guide for what roads should be trunk or not? osm.wiki/User:Dulahey/Oklahoma_Highway_Classification_Proposal

Wilderness areas should not have the natural=wood tag. Not every square foot of area in these protected areas is covered in forest, so this tag is inaccurate and I am going to remove it.

110731618 over 3 years ago

I noticed you tagged this section with access=no, which basically implies that the road is closed, which is probably not what you intended.

115651014 over 3 years ago

Hi, please don't tag wilderness areas with natural=wood. Not all of that area is actually covered in forest, as there are many lakes, meadows, etc.

Ok thanks for the info. Wanted to make sure it hasn't reopened and you'd forgotten to update it.

92064464 over 3 years ago

Is this road still closed?

114311348 over 3 years ago

Hello, the consensus in the US community is that roads with only one interchange sandwiched between at-grade intersections are too short to be tagged as motorway and should be tagged as trunk or lower.

113355463 over 3 years ago

Yes, that tag is meant for lakes that are usually dry except for brief periods when there's lots of rain.
