Phew - a week after the mapping weekend, and we've finally got all the edits in from the weekend.

In total we had 12 attendees and everyone seemed to get the hang of it pretty easily. A lot got done, but there's still more to do...

If anyone is interested in doing more of these, let me know and I'll try and organise a regular event. Meanwhile, thanks to Shaun for organising it in the first place, Ian Maxwell (from the Scottish Government) for providing support, including booking the room, the guys from the Council for their enthusiasm (and Sunday's lunch) and to everyone who turned up and had a go.

Phew - completed the first day of my first ever mapping party in Dumfries. We had a small but enthusiastic turnout of nine, with only two experienced mappers (and I count myself as one of the two...). After a quick how-to session with the GPSs and Potlatch, we fanned out in three groups on bikes and on foot, and got some good traces laid down and the bulk of them edited into the map. Already the town is beginning to look much more filled in, although we'll be tackling the real 'Terra Incognita' bits tomorrow

Unfortunately most of the local mappers can't make it, but maybe if enough people are interested it could be a regular thing. There's certainly lots to do round here.

If anyone can make it, there will probably be a meetup in the Robert the Bruce pub on the Friday beforehand
