"“west lion” and “east lion” are colonial names for these mountains. locals call them the “two sisters” based on the story of a peace treaty between the squamish and haida nations. the legend is about two daughters of the squamish nation who had their father, the chief, invite people from haida to a peaceful supper in the midst of an on going war between the two nations. the haida people brought their families in a feast of great peace and it solidified a strong bond that ended the war. the sagalie tyee (the name for the creator in squamish legends) immortalized the two sisters as the mountain peaks we see today in commemoration of their feast that ended the war. According to a statement at the Regional Parks Committee Meeting May 7 2025, the 7 cabins in this area are currently being demolished with 1 cabin left. This is apart of new construction works to open a new portion of the park in this area.

A survey is needed to verify cabin demolition, any trail changes, and any construction works.

The extension of the "Bowen Island MUP" to Charlies Lane is anticipated to be completed by March 31, 2025. A survey of this area is needed and should also take care to note changes to the Trans Island Pathway. Multiple GPS recordings will be needed to get good accuracy as this is a steep ravine.
