Don’t use amenity=biergarten, since that’s for the German-style thing. Use leisure=outdoor_seating instead, with the operator= set to the pub name. I recently converted all of Cumbria to the second tagging format. Fixed in osm.org/changeset/56084478. :-)

Hi, thanks for editing OSM. If you press ‘s’ in the ID editor when an area (like a house) is selected, it will automatically square the corners.

I prefer Myanmar.

Myanmar, really??!

The approach of adding source= to each element is not quite deprecated, but is definitely not the recommended approach now. You can list multiple sources for the entire changeset by semicolon-separating them (as it looks like you have done). The details are here (in case you haven’t seen them already): osm.wiki/Key:source. I’ll leave it up to you!

Thanks!

(For anyone else reading, the changes were done in osm.org/changeset/55869502.)

While you’re doing these residential surveys, it would be great if you could tag the residential roads with lit=, sidewalk=, surface= and maxspeed=. (That’s the minimum standard I’m slowly trying to bring Kendal up to — see osm.org/changeset/55815817, for example.) Thanks!

I’ve made the changes in osm.org/changeset/55859922.

Hi, thanks for editing OSM. That change is not quite correct, because the road running over the bridge is still called Owen Road. This change will result in satnavs thinking you’re going from a road called Owen Road, to a road called Skerton Bridge, and then back to a road called Owen Road as you drive over the bridge. It would be better to map and tag the bridge separately: osm.wiki/Tag:man_made%3Dbridge. I’ll do that now.

(For those interested in the details, here’s the council’s page on it: http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/council/strategies-policies-plans/roads-parking-and-travel/major-transport-schemes/greyhound-bridge-lancaster.aspx)

Yup, thanks for asking! You’ve been doing good stuff so far.

Here are the changes I made to this edit: osm.org/changeset/55857658. In addition to what I mentioned above, I used the `s` key in ID to automatically square the corners of the car park/building, and added some tags to the roads from memory (if I got anything wrong, please change it). Cheers.

Thanks for your recent edits! I don’t think it makes sense for the car park to have an address, so I’ll remove that. The address should just be on the restaurant. The restaurant should also have an fhrs:id so people can check its hygiene rating, and so that we can validate the address. (See osm.wiki/Key:fhrs:id.)

Did you know you don't need to add the source=bing tag to each object you create? JOSM adds it to the changeset itself. (So does ID.)

Yeah, I was aware there’s no consistent uniform styling. Although I vaguely remembered that in my home town, everything was styled as ‘C of E’ on the signs. You make a good point about text to speech software. I’ll continue changing schools to ‘C of E’ as I come across them, and make decisions about other things on a case by case basis.

Oops, good catch. leisure=outdoor_seating is a more appropriate tag than amenity=biergarten anyway (since the latter is aimed more at the German-style biergarten, which isn’t a garden attached to a pub). Fixed in changeset osm.org/changeset/55805992.

55788680 over 7 years ago

Not entirely. I’m tweaking them based on what seems right, since ‘&’ is normally a stylistic contraction of ‘and’, and ‘CofE’ just doesn’t make sense. I’m open to being persuaded this is not a good idea.

Nice! I didn’t realise it would be on the old maps.

If you want to make more edits around Morecambe, using your local knowledge, please continue to do so! Anything that could make the map more useful for your guests and visitors to Morecambe would be welcome (tourist attractions, footpaths, local shops, etc.). I’ll keep an eye on the changes and help out if anything goes wrong.

55711447 over 7 years ago

Thanks for your edits. There were a few problems with them, mostly around you accidentally moving bits of road and other hotels. I’ve moved them back in this changeset: osm.org/changeset/55712932. I’ve also deleted the addr:housename tag from the Morecambe Hotel, since it’s unnecessary if it’s the same as the name tag.

Nice! I’ve been meaning to do this for my area.
