Changeset When Comment
162937729 6 months ago

Your changes are looking good, but please take the time to write out meaningful changeset descriptions. It's easier to understand what changes you intended to make. For example, this one could be "Specifying whether crossings are marked"

It looks like you're removing tags that were added to the existing stops (like metcouncil:site_id, tactile_paving, etc). Please be careful to keep that extra data from OSM mappers.

Thanks for working on the map. This was marked with no access for walking because the road itself is not for pedestrians. There are separate lines for the sidewalk, which do allow walking.

Yep, this import happened 16+ years ago. Some of the data added was pulled in from very old topographic maps. If a thing that was added doesn't exist, then feel free to delete it. If it exists somewhere else, please move the point added here. If the thing already exists in OSM, consider merging the GNIS identifier in to the existing OSM data and deleting the imported point.

Yea, it's confusing because the Telemark Lodge building was dismantled a couple years ago and this new building was very recently built. See here: https://www.birkie.com/mtv/base-camp-lodge/

Howdy! Thanks for adding detail to the trails. Note that the area has changed pretty extensively recently and some of the Strava routes might not be accurate or up to date anymore. In particular, the "Base Camp" buildings were constructed since any available aerial imagery and should not be deleted.

Reverting the deletion of the Telemark Village Base Camp building.

Hi, thanks for your contributions, but the name hasn't changed yet.

Please see the discussion here: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/gulf-of-america-gulf-of-mexico/124571

Hi, thanks for working on these MapRoulette projects. It looks like you put the reservoir on the wrong area, though. It probably should have gone on the whole reservoir, not just a tiny part of it. I will correct, but please keep an eye out for other changes you're making.

Trump hasn't signed any executive orders yet, he's only announced them in a speech. Executive orders need to be signed and recorded in the Federal Register, where they'll appear here: https://www.federalregister.gov/presidential-documents/executive-orders

The name of this object has not changed yet. The entity that specifies the name is the US Board of Geographic Names (https://www.usgs.gov/us-board-on-geographic-names/domestic-names), and they still call it the "Gulf of Mexico" (https://edits.nationalmap.gov/apps/gaz-domestic/public/search/names/558730).

Are you in Hayward? Stay warm, if so!

Thanks for the explanations. I agree that defining the stadium area could be difficult and the fact that some definition was arrived upon makes sense.

Apologies for jumping to revert quickly. I should have waited a bit longer for a response since it's a bit later for you over there.

I disagreed that they were sensible. Tags that are seemingly related to buildings were deleted from multipolygons and moved to an outer way, which goes against convention as I said. It makes sense to proactively undo changes from a new mapper, especially one that is quickly making changes to prominent objects across a large area until discussion can happen. That's why I was faster to revert.

In my model of the situation, the building and the stadium are logically equivalent entities so the tags should be on the same OSM entities. In other words, to me the outer way the encircles the stadium is meaningless without its relation to the building multipolygon. If there's a "stadium area", it would be the campus of the stadium that includes the nearby parking, the pitch, the stadium building, and perhaps the pedestrian grounds around it. It sounds like I'm in the minority here, and I don't have the energy to push back against esoteric OSM tagging schemes.
