Hi Reino,

why did you change the diameter from 4840 to 48.4? The wiki says: "If no unit is given millimetres are assumed", and the correct value in millimetres is 4840

Hi Kri_ttt

osm.org/node/11227922108/

this tree's circumference seems too big. Are they meant to be centimeters maybe? In such case should be edited with "0.80" or "80 cm" since the standard unit is the meter

thanks and good mapping

Hi ig4map,

what kind of attraction is this one?

thanks and good mapping

Hi krmrzzg,

osm.org/node/4548105749
I noticed you took the circumference value from here:
https://crfop.gdos.gov.pl/

Just a heads-up: the site uses centimetres as the default unit, while OSM expects metres for circumference.
I've corrected it—thanks, and happy mapping!

Another odd one: osm.org/node/2242250499/history
A Quercus robur with a height of 24 metres and a circumference of 0.01 metres.
I’d expect the circumference to be around 3–4 metres, or the height to be at most 9 metres.

Hi voltairovicz,

Hi random tree,

I noticed this Quercus robur, the tallest in the database: osm.org/node/2322106056
are you sure this tree is 48 meters tall? This would make it probably the tallest Quercus robur in the world, according to monumentaltrees the tallest atm is 45.20

I will try doing it myself. I tried it with two nodes and worked, I will go on with the rest of them soon: osm.org/changeset/167482890

An update just for the record — even after 4 years, the circumference values still look off. In Bolivia alone there are at least 11944 wrong circumference values (is the country with most flags): https://osmose.openstreetmap.fr/en/issues/open?source=6925&item=9006&class=9006033

Ciao casual-user,

"aggiornamenti vari" non aiuta molto a capire cosa hai modificato di preciso. Vedi: osm.wiki/IT:Good_changeset_comments

osm.org/node/1886858170
Fai attenzione a cancellare solo i dati relativi all'attività.

osm.org/relation/11744240

Ho corretto. Buon mapping

Hi Niiepce,

why did you delete the alt_names here? osm.org/node/5611154617

158450404 about 2 months ago

Hi Iski0,

the standard unit for the circumference value is meters. e.g.
circumference=183.0 should be circumference=1.83

could you fix them? thanks and good mapping

I noticed other weird values while looking at Acer platanoides trees:

osm.org/node/3658207772
according to monumentaltrees.com (https://www.monumentaltrees.com/en/trees/acerplatanoides/records/) the tallest Acer platanoides is 37.90m, this one is 40m. Maybe OSM data is correct, who knows. But I would expect at least a denotation=landmark/natural_monument in such case.

osm.org/node/3658215307
This Acer platanoides is tall 12m and has a circumference of 0.04, having a height/circumference ratio of 300 (the biggest value in the database for this species). The average circumference for other trees of the same species with the same height is above 1m.

I have to agree with GiovanniPen here.
I appreciate your contributions to OSM, but in this case, you've mapped features that don't exist: there are two separate staircases on the sides, not a single one in the center. Additionally, you changed a building:part=terrace area into a way, which is incorrect — building parts must be mapped as areas. This should have been handled by improving the building:part tagging and adding the linear features, not by deleting one to replace it with the other. That approach results in the loss of valid geometry data.

Ciao kaitu,

es. "note = trail paint blaze on a rock, symbol red-white-red bars with black text "40""

"trail paint blaze" può essere indicato con "information=trail_blaze" oppure "information=route_marker"

"on a rock" può essere indicato con "support=rock"

"red-white-red bars with black text "40"" può essere indicato con "symbol=*" ecc.ecc.
