Hi PaulHaag. thanks for your contributions! Why the downgrade from tertiary to unclassified though? The กพ.4034 ref indicates it's a rural road and it was appropriately tagged as highway=tertiary as per the Thailand wiki guidelines osm.wiki/WikiProject_Thailand#Urban_and_Local_Road_wide_enough_for_motor_cars

Hello and welcome to OSM! I've had to revert your changes as they don't align with Thailand's highway guidelines. As a new mapper, it's a great idea to begin with straightforward edits in areas you're familiar with, such as your local neighborhood. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you! - Julien

reverted change as bridge is not legally prohibited for motorcars. Please be careful regarding the usage of legal access tags.

@AlaskaDave I have fixed the incorrect admin_level on these boundaries, and added a note for further work. I will complete these boundaries once I figure out what dataset we can use legally. Cheers, Julien

Good idea, let's follow up there.
I would like to get more info about the Thai Topo source in JOSM as I don't seem to have access to it.

I will provide more info on how the GISTDA daata could be accessed as an external layer.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for reaching out!

Just to give you some background, I added those partial boundary edges a while back with limited knowledge at the time. They're handy for detecting paths, like fire breaks, forestry tracks, or walking paths, since they often align with those features.
Regarding the WorldTopoSource, it's deprecated from ESRI and shouldn't be relied upon. I noticed it used on some public government sites and assumed it was viable, but that's not the case.

Ideally, these boundaries should be reworked into districts (admin_level=6) and sub-districts (admin_level=8) relations, similar to what's been done for provinces (admin_level=4). That way, they'd have meaningful names.

It's been on my todo list for a bit, but now that I've found some open data we can use (GITSDA), it's given me a bit of a boost. Just need to squeeze in some time for it!
Anyway, I'm glad to see someone else interested in this topic. Feel free to make any changes you think are needed.

By the way, could you let me know where I can find the "Thai Topo" source you use in JOSM?

Thanks a lot for your contributions! Please don't forget to upload your GPS traces to OSM so we can continue improving the accuracy and completeness of the maps. Your traces make a valuable difference!

Hey Russ,
I've noticed this 5-meter wide road (107405595) with front access to multiple residences has been tagged correctly for 13 years.
While I understand this specific change might be a mistake, there are many reports of narrow residential classifications you've adjusted over the years.
Can we work together to figure this out once and for all? Appreciate your support in resolving this:

ok thanks for the clarifications! legal access tags are usually only for signs, and they can be hard to maintain, and confusing to other mappers. I will change these to highway=footway which is exactly for this purpose. Cheers, Julien

Hi Megaemce! Thank you for your amazing contributions in Chiang Mai.
I am currently doing some cleanup where legal access tags may be unnecessary, and came across many of your highway=path+horse=no+bicycle=no. What kind of ways are these? Are they actual sign forbidding bicycle/horses? or they could be simply tagged as highway=footway with the same effect ?
Cheers, Julien

Hi PonPan, thanks for your contributions! Please note that narrow roads only accessible to motorcycles should be tagged with highway=path + width=X, and not highway=service+service=alley. You can find more info about it in the Thailand wiki and the forum. Keep up the great work!

FYI I downgraded new unclassified segment to residential as it is too narrow compared to nearby 2 lanes unclassified, and adjusted lanes and width tags accordingly for your reference.

Also adding a clear description makes it easier for others to review your changes.

Hi Thanawutdd,
Thanks for your contributions and keep up the great work!
I noticed you added roads in Chiang Mai as highway=living_street. However, living_street isn't commonly used in Thailand due to the lack of relevant legislation. I've changed the tags to highway=residential as per the Thailand wiki recommendation (osm.wiki/WikiProject_Thailand#Urban_and_Local_Road_not_wide_enough_for_motor_cars).
For future reference, consider using highway=residential for streets with multiple residential houses and highway=service + service=driveway for single-building access.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
