160989549 | 7 months ago | Hi Killar, Could you clarify what you meant by `highway=path + motor_vehicle=yes`? Are these paths wide enough for 4-wheel vehicles (like `highway=track`), or are they only suitable for motorcycles (`highway=path + motorcycle=yes`)? Just a heads-up: using legal access tags to indicate physical suitability is discouraged in Thailand. You can find more details in our wiki: [WikiProject Thailand](osm.wiki/WikiProject_Thailand). If I don’t hear back from you, I’ll assume these are narrow paths suitable for motorcycles and adjust them accordingly. Best,

161114530 | 7 months ago | Hi Killar, thanks for your contributions! If you're familiar with the area, that's fantastic. Road classification upgrades are much appreciated, along with any GPX traces you can upload. For more details on the origins of these unknown road classifications, check out this link: [Improvement in Thailand - Reducing the Risks of Armchair Mapping](https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/improvements-in-thailand-reducing-the-risks-of-armchair-mapping/123857).

Merci ! osm.org/traces

159829216 | 9 months ago | Thanks for your contributions! FYI I have corrected the name tags (Thai should go into name and name:th, english into name:en) and recreated the place=village as node. You can read more about Thailand's tagging guidelines at the link below. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Happy mapping :) osm.wiki/WikiProject_Thailand

159002085 | 9 months ago | Hey, thanks for reaching out! Sorry for the misleading changset description here. So, I've been removing the `highway` tag from geometries that I previously added based solely on imagery. After some global feedback, I realized that without additional sources, these geometries might not actually be paths—they could even be something else, like streams. Some people suggested I shouldn’t add them to OSM, while others recommended tagging them as `highway=road` or `highway=path` if I’m reasonably confident they’re actual paths from the imagery alone. As you know, OSM doesn’t have a built-in way to distinguish between verified paths and those from unknown/limited sources. Instead of deleting these unverified geometries, I’ve left them as-is to encourage other mappers to survey them. I’m not completely satisfied with this approach, but I’m actively exploring alternative solutions. Hope this helps clarify! https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/how-to-tag-unconfirmed-disconnected-trails-added-via-imagery/116102

151485337 | about 1 year ago | Thanks for your contributions! I see that you frequently use `highway=road`, which is often used for ways that haven’t been surveyed yet. However, I noticed that you’ve also added tags like width, smoothness, and surface. Are you unsure about the appropriate classification to use? In cases where the roads provide access to residences, `highway=residential` might be a better fit.

153833242 | about 1 year ago | Sounds good! Check out this link for info on the smoothness attribute: osm.wiki/Key:smoothness In Thailand, dirt roads that city cars can't handle usually start at smoothness=very_bad, meaning small ruts that a pickup truck can handle. Bigger ruts or roots needing a heavy-duty 4WD are smoothness=horrible. If the ruts are so big only off-road motorcycles can get through, that's smoothness=very_horrible. Hope this helps, and thanks again for your awesome contributions!
