Hi there! Thank you for your contributions! Just a friendly tip for next time, it's a good practice to save and upload your changes before moving on to the next area. You can find more information on changesets and their geographical size at: osm.wiki/Changeset#Geographical_size_of_changesets

It shows all open issues related to areas, and highlight specific issues like segments unclosed, overlapping, wrong inner/outer role, etc...

Note that the data is refreshed maybe once a day, so the fix I have done for Chiang Mai province is not reflected yet.

Apologies, it should be fixed now. Used OSMI to find the broken relation, and iD on my smartphone.

Hey Fred, just to clarify, this road primarily serves a temple, and it's not intended for permanent residences. That's why it had a service classification. Please take a look at the wiki link I shared in my previous message for more information. Thanks! Julien

Hey Fred, welcome to the Thailand community!

Just a quick heads-up: not all dirt tracks should be tagged as 'highway=track' in OpenStreetMap. They could actually be residential, service roads, or even unclassified highways.

Take a look at this link for more details: osm.wiki/WikiProject_Thailand#Highway_classification. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Changing the classification solely because of the surface type, as you did, is kind of like tagging just to make the map look better. Here's some info on why that's not the best approach: osm.wiki/Tagging_for_the_renderer.

Don't stress too much about highway classifications; instead, focus on using extra tags like surface, smoothness, tracktype, mb:scale, sac_scale, and so on to give more context.

Hi Barbara, I really appreciate your contributions! Local insights are fantastic, but tagging can sometimes be a challenge. After checking the wiki, I found that "guest_house=guest_house" isn't a valid tag. Based on feedback from the community, it seems like "building=apartments" is a more fitting tag for serviced apartments, so I went ahead and made that change. Thanks again!

Hi StarLord4K, thanks for your contributions! It has come to our attention that you've removed certain surface tags. If the roads are now paved, please consider using 'surface=paved' or a more precise value (asphalt/concrete)

Hi there! I've reached out to experts within the global community, and as you can see in the following link, there's a wide range of opinions on this matter. I'll also attempt to get feedback from OsmAnd regarding their preferences: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/differing-approaches-to-tagging-vending-machines-for-motor-fuel-dispensing-have-caused-confusion/103421

I hear your voice, but remember, our mapping community is bigger than just the two of us. There are folks who've been mapping in Thailand for ages, and their voice counts too.

I can tell you're really into your contributions, and that's awesome! But think about how the original mappers might feel if their stuff got changed without a chat. I'm hoping we can all team up to make those northern Thailand maps even better! I'll send you the community topic link soon, but for now, let me savor the rest of my vacation first :)

Hi pLoskutov, I've been in Thailand for quite a while, about 15 years, so I've got a good handle on the different fuel vending categories here :)

We're facing a bit of a puzzle when it comes to tagging vending machines, and the community didn't quite come to a clear agreement during our last discussion in the Thailand forum.

Like you, I'm eager to find a solution, but I'm currently traveling. When I find some time, I'll put together a new community post summarizing our past discussions and reach out to everyone. We can work together to find a common approach. After that, we can consider submitting a feature request to OsmAnd to update icons and search functions.

In the meantime, it would be appreciated if you could avoid making changes to existing tags. Instead, you could add a note or description. This way, we can make updates more smoothly once we reach a decision.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi pLoskutov, I'm specifically referring to this segment: osm.org/way/555852322

While we're generally discouraged from using Google for mapping, the street view link below shows two signs related to a Department of Agriculture Cooperative estate and a Watershed Management unit, rather than a residential settlement. Hence 'highway=service' would be the most suitable classification in this case:

https://www.google.com/maps/@19.0595073,98.3151573,3a,29.4y,170.43h,75.68t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s90USCcsb8AZGvZSYnSRSCw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

I understand this might be a bit perplexing, but the designation "highway=unclassified" doesn't imply that the road is impossible to classify. Instead, it signifies that it's a road within the network hierarchy that holds lower significance compared to tertiary roads. In essence, it would have been more fittingly labeled as "quaternary."

You can find detailed information about this in our Thailand wiki, so please feel free to reach out if you have any additional queries.
