OSM website is now 100% translated to Arabic!
I hope to see soon an option in the main interface to switch the language, or detect the location of the users to change the interface to the suitable language.

Thanks to tomhughes for fixing the bug of plural forms in Arabic, it was pretty fast (only 4 hours). ;-)

Mapzen has a lot of good features with simple, user friendly and beautiful interface, but it doesn't support writing names in Arabic, and it displays it in wrong letters order and the letters are disconnected!
I really can not contribute using such editor...

All of that because of the flash player in Linux, it doesn't support Arabic. In Potlatch we have the same problem, but only in the display, but we are able to write in Arabic.

That prevent me till now from translating Potlatch to Arabic, it's very difficult to use it in this way, although the website is near fully translated to Arabic.

I hope one day we will see an OSM editor based on javascript. It will solves most of our problems, and I think it will make our life easy!

تقريبًا 80% من موقع مترجم إلى العربية. بقى فقط القليل من مفاتيح الخريطة وبعض رسائل التنبيه التي ترسل بالإيميل، بالإضافة إلى معلومات المنع المضافة حديثا.

أطيب التحيات

When I tried to see if Google index the Arabic wiki pages, unfortunately I found that Google doesn't do it.
Try with "maps" in Arabic "خرائط" and filter the result by "site:openstreetmap.org". "http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:openstreetmap.org+خرائط"
There's no results from the wiki nor from the Map. the only results founded are from the Diary.

Google doesn't help us to spread the word in the Arabic region.

Is there any solution for that?!!

يبدو أن جووجل لم يفهم بعد صيغة المعلومات الموجودة في خريطة الشارع المفتوح، لذلك عندما نقوم بالبحث عن كلمة "خريطة" أو "خرائط" فإن النتائج تكون أبعد ما يمكن عن موقع خريطة الشارع المفتوح، وهذا أحد أسباب بقاء المشروع مجهولا بالنسبة للكثيرين من مستخدمي الأنترنيت العرب.

من الكلمات البحث ذات الصلة والتي يقوم المستخدمون بإدخالها في جووجل عندما يريدون البحث عن الخرائط مثلا:
خرائط، خريطة العالم، خرائط الوطن العربي، خريطة السعودية، خريطة عمان، خريطة مصر، خريطة الرياض، خريطة المغرب، خرائط منازل، خرائط جوجل، خرائط صماء.

وكل هذه الخرائط موجودة بشكل حر ومجاني في موقع خريطة الشارع المفتوح، ولكن لا أحد يعرف عنها!!!

أرى أنه يجب البدء بحملة توعية لتعريف مستخدمي الأنترنت العرب بأهمية الخرائط الحرة وطريقة التخطيط الجماعي، حيث أن أغلبهم يجهلون أنه يمكنك تعديل وإضافة معلومات إلى الخريطة (وحتى من سمع عن المشروع).

يجري تصويت حاليا لمعرفة رأي المساهمين بموضوع تعريب الخريطة. حيث أنه بات جليا أن الخريطة تدعم كل اللغات على كافة المنصات، ويجب علينا أن نقدم خريطة قابلة للاستخدام للمستخدمين المحليين!!!
