45343344 | over 7 years ago | Watch out for outdated POIs imported from gnis, the hospital and infirmary here are both long gone. The driveway visible in this old picture of the hospital is still visible in the satellite imagery and the buildings have obviously changed: https://openi.nlm.nih.gov/detailedresult.php?img=HMD101403851_A010658&req=4 I've removed them both. 54243880 | over 7 years ago | Hi- Several of the districts you have drawn were marked as buildings and were making the whole town look like a building on the map. I've removed the building tags but left the outlines in place. http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/ might be a better tool for what you are trying to do. It's intended for simple custom maps drawn over an OpenStreetMap background. The outlines from OSM can be imported, the process is a bit convoluted, if you want I can do it for you and send you a link giving you control of the map. Max |
54471084 | over 7 years ago | Hi- Welcome to OpenStreetMap. You seem to have added some personal notes to the map. Changes immediately go live on the global map that everyone shares, so I've removed them. Take a look at http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/ for making a personal map. Happy mapping, Max |
54195440 | over 7 years ago | Hi- Could you take a look at osm.org/node/5255148528 The 3 streets are currently not connected to each other, but I see news articles about street work there so I don't want to try to fix it from outdated imagery. Thanks, Max |
49758440 | over 7 years ago | It seems the hospital is at least on its way to disappearing: |
28511610 | over 7 years ago | Hi- What do you think about adjusting the tagging of all these trees to put the genus+species into the species tag? (the genus and name:botanical could be deleted without losing any info then) This would better align the tagging with widespread practice: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/?key=species#values I'm happy to carry out the edit if you agree, just wanted to check and see what you thought before doing it. Thanks, Max |
46005408 | over 7 years ago | Hi- I've adjusted many of the opening_hours values that you have entered to use the format documented at osm.wiki/Key:opening_hours It is not a big problem to enter plain text but values following the format are more useful and can do things like give different times for different days (I see you had put this sort of information in "description"). The tool at http://openingh.openstreetmap.de/evaluation_tool/ is useful for working out a value. Thanks for mapping, Max |
48257390 | over 7 years ago | Yeah, I figured it out at some point and switched over. According to Overpass API there are 343 of the wrong key created by me still in the database. I should probably clean it up, I guess I don't think it is very urgent though. |
43509725 | over 7 years ago | Please make sure that the wikidata "instance of" matches the OSM feature classification when doing this type of edit. See https://twitter.com/kgjenkins/status/928752201874501633 Thanks, Max |
53141417 | over 7 years ago | Hi- I've just deleted the "PR-661" relation created in this changeset because as best I can tell it doesn't exist as an improved route. In JOSM you can add a WMS layer showing the territorial road network in Puerto Rico, the wms endpoint is http://geoserver.prosmap.org:80/geoserver/prosmap/wms Select "Carreteras Estatales 1" The tiger data, including the 2017 version, has a lot of wrong information about these roads. osm.org/way/534172508 could maybe be tertiary, but it really only serves the small neighborhood south of the highway so it is pretty borderline. 53672799 | over 7 years ago | Hi- The "name" field is for the real world name of the object. So most of the time when mapping buildings from imagery it will be left blank. If someone instructed you to add names, could you point them at this comment and ask them to contact me? Thanks, Max |
53589358 | over 7 years ago | Hi- You have added fixme="It is not appreciated road in the images" to a few ways I have just edited. There are many roads that do not appear in the imagery from the US TIGER import (osm.wiki/TIGER). It's fine to delete them, especially if you check the layer in JOSM "PR/USVI 2017 NOAA Hurricane Maria imagery", but most roads should be visible in the ESRI Imagery. The NOAA Maria imagery can be a pain, it is split into many layers. the file at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aOnThem8Df5mqdwI-RhSQWujyLM_SygO has outlines of the area each layer covers. Thanks, Max |
53193498 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- This edit introduced a small error and I just wanted to give you a tip for avoiding it. When you disconnected the little stub of Calle Estrella: osm.org/way/267368388 the operation also created a disconnection in the straight street, which happened to be made of 2 pieces. To avoid the problem, you can use shift-click to select both the intersection that you want to break and the street you want to break away from it: https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues/3926#issuecomment-290087985 It really is a small error, don't worry about it, I mostly wanted to let you know about using shift-click to make changes to specific elements. Thanks for mapping, Max |
44346486 | almost 8 years ago | I happened to download a small area that included buildings added in this changeset and noticed that several garages and small outbuildings were tagged as building=house. Spot checking nearby buildings, it is easy to find more. I guess they could use a clean up and review. Also, personally I don't bother putting addr: info on small outbuildings, but I guess that can be a style choice. |
53095719 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- A couple more tips. In the editor, you can hold down the "alt" key on the keyboard while adding a point to avoid connecting the new point to an existing feature. There is also a "square" operation that can be used to help line up building footprints. It is available in the right click context menu when a feature is selected (the square icon) and can also be activated by pressing "s" on the keyboard. Happy mapping, Max |
52874781 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- Just a little quick feedback - if you aren't sure what something is, it is fine to just leave it out. Also a couple tips about the editor. When working close to an existing feature, hold down the "alt" key when adding a point to avoid connecting the new feature to the existing feature. Also experiment with the "Square" operation, which will square the corners of a feature. It's available in the right click menu or by pressing "s" when a feature is selected. Happy mapping, Max |
53049477 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- The "name" field is for when something has a specific name, there is a separate field for marking buildings. I have seen this issue with several users and #MSFT change comments, if possible please pass the correction on if there are instructions or a coordinator suggesting it. Thanks, Max |
53037408 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- The "name" field should be used when something has a specific name. There is a separate building field that is used to note that an object is a building. I've seen a fair number of people using #msft and adding name=building, if an organizer or some project information steered you into doing this, please consider passing the correction along. Thanks, Max |
52758033 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- None of your uploads actually contain building ways and are happening at quite a fast rate. Could you maybe explain what you are up to? It kind of looks like poorly done mechanical editing, so even if you don't want to explain what you are doing, you should check that your process is actually doing what you think it is doing. Thanks, Max |
52486412 | almost 8 years ago | Hi- If you do some more mapping, residential land use is a better way to mark large groups of houses than a large building feature. Thanks, max |
