162755267 | 6 months ago | Thanks. Looking at the Bing aerial and street side imagery, the 5 mph limit and informal zebra crossings indicate that it's not a public highway. Despite this, it still appears to be officially called Ossory Road from its Designated Street Name USRN. I've updated it and tweaked a few other things nearby in osm.org/changeset/162781378 It may take a couple of weeks before cycle routing software "knows" about either of our edits, depending on how often they update. |
162755267 | 6 months ago | Thanks for adding this. I suspect that the privately owned service roads within Glengall Business Centre should be tagged with access=destination + ownership=private. That should prevent routing software from using it as a short cut between Old Kent Road/Ossory Road and Glengall Road. Assuming you're more familiar with the area than me, does that sound like a reasonable description of access there? |
162731972 | 6 months ago | What is Bluestar and is their licence compatible with OpenStreetMap? |
162735594 | 6 months ago | (Review requested) For this layby, it would probably be better to add it as an area next to the A20, tagged with amenty=parking + parking=layby. You could also add parking:left=separate to the adjacent section of the A20. The service road you've added is not physically segregated, so wouldn't usually be added as a separate way. It also has a oneway restriction in the wrong direction. |
162666629 | 6 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thanks for helping to keep Access Self Storage's branches up to date. Just a couple of minor points - addr:housename is for a distinct building name rather than a partial duplication of the address, phone numbers should be in international format (+44 20 31312794) and there's a branch tag you can use. osm.wiki/Addresses_in_the_United_Kingdom

162661506 | 6 months ago | I'm not sure if you're already using it, but there is a map overlay available in the iD editor you're using, "OSMUK Cadastral Parcels", showing Land Registry parcels. It can sometimes be quite helpful for some land boundaries and alignment. |
162660166 | 6 months ago | (Review requested) Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thanks for updating this. For the staff car park you already have access=private, to which you could add private=employees. It might also be worth adding disabled=yes to the staff car park, otherwise data consumers may treat the disabled spaces you've added inside as private (i.e. disabled spaces for staff only). |
162552654 | 6 months ago | (Review requested) Thanks for updating OpenStreetMap. In most cases, OSM uses tags rather than a name label to tell data consumers what sort of object a map feature is and to display an appropriate icon on the map. For public toilets, this is amenity=toilet. Where the building is a dedicated structure for toilets, building=toilets can be added as well. I have updated it using these tags. osm.wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dtoilets

162548755 | 6 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap. Please do not delete objects which exist and can be seen in imagery from the map. The correct way to represent this is with access tagging and/or the ownership tag. Please see osm.wiki/Why_we_won%27t_delete_roads_on_private_property Reverted in osm.org/changeset/162549457 Changed to driveway and tagged as private access in osm.org/changeset/162549691 |
162484441 | 6 months ago | No problem - and thanks for adding more detail to the map in that area. |
162528334 | 6 months ago | Welcome to OpenStreetMap. In the UK, the addr:city tag is usually the post town, which is Maldon in this case. The name of the village, hamlet, or suburb is store in the addr:suburb key. More details here osm.wiki/Addresses_in_the_United_Kingdom |
162499152 | 6 months ago | (Review requested) Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thanks for updating the map. One minor tweak you might wish to make is with the address. In the UK, we usually put the post town (i.e. Thatcham) into addr:city and the village, hamlet, or suburb into addr:suburb. There's more detailed information at osm.wiki/Addresses_in_the_United_Kingdom |
162482579 | 6 months ago | When the iD editor raises the "Building crosses Foot Path" or "Building crosses Highway" issues, the first two suggestions are "Tag this as higher" and "Tag this as lower". Unfortunately, these options used in isolation are almost always wrong. Not only do they not fix the problem, but they also hide it from QA tools which would help other users to really fix the problem. This isn't your fault, it's one of the many design flaws in the iD editor where suggested improvements actually degrade the map. This particular problem can be fixed by realigning the building, using the OSMUK Cadastral Parcels overlay. In other cases, where there is a driveway or passageway through a building, the highway can be split where it joins the building and tunnel=building_passage added to the section in the building. It rarely needs a layer tag. I've realigned the terrace on Railway Street in osm.org/changeset/162493336 |
162489301 | 6 months ago | (Review requested) Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thanks for adding your business to the map. You seem to have added yourselves twice, once to the building at the corner of Worplesdon Road and Sheepfold Road and as a separate node (point) on Worplesdon Road between Seymours and Miah's (probably no. 137). Is this correct? |
162484441 | 6 months ago | If you're going to add residential gardens (and please do), you need to draw just the garden area rather than the entire residential block. See the gardens around the "Adventure Play Area" bounded by Risley Avenue, Awlfield Road, Tower Gardens Road and Shobden Road as an example. |
162483459 | 6 months ago | This edit may have been intended to be a personal note or bookmark, but you altered live OpenStreetMap data. This was reverted in osm.org/changeset/162491696 |
162483544 | 6 months ago | This edit may have been intended to be a personal note or bookmark, but you altered live OpenStreetMap data, changing the name of Brighton to "Brighton Alex". This was reverted in osm.org/changeset/162491696 |
162467951 | 6 months ago | Using the longer version of the name in the brand tag seems quite reasonable to me, but without changing it in the Name Suggestion Index (NSI), it's quite likely to get changed back to just "Access" every time someone makes an edit with the web-based iD editor you're using. That and some other QA tools will suggest adding brand and other tags based on NSI. If you need any help, please feel free to ask. I'm not one of NSI's maintainers, so I can't promise that it will get changed. |
162467951 | 6 months ago | If you feel strongly that the value of the brand tag should be "Access Self Storage" rather just "Access", you will need to get the Name Suggestion Index project updated. You can either raise an issue in their Github project, or contribute a pull request changing this file: https://github.com/osmlab/name-suggestion-index/blob/db2fabc82fb0725437c5c336f94ab2665e6a87c8/data/brands/shop/storage_rental.json#L23 |
162466295 | 6 months ago | I've re-added Middle Dock as the alt_name and old_name, as it's still likely to be referred to (and searched for) by that name. |
