74417374 | over 5 years ago | I'm local-ish (Stratford), so close enough to get over there on my bike and shoot as much Mapillary imagery as I can. I'll have to wait for suitable weather for it, but I need the exercise :-) I'll ask Hounslow Cyclists (the local London Cycling Campaign group) to take a look once I've done what I can with erroneous bicycle=yes tags and the updates have propagated to OpenCycleMap. Luckily @MacLondon had corrected a lot of these before they were re-vandalised, so I can look at the history in JOSM and re-tag per the last reliable edit. |
77517001 | over 5 years ago | Douglas Path is, or was, part of LCN 1 and is part of the proposed Hackney to Isle of Dogs Cycleway. What is your source for this edit? Are there either signs indicating this, e.g. cycling prohibited (TSRGD diagram 951) or the advisory cyclists dismount (diagram 966)? |
74417374 | over 5 years ago | Thanks! I'm also working my way through some rather "interesting" edits by the same mapper. |
77255535 | over 5 years ago | If we take Dorothy Perkins ( osm.org/node/3551232245 ) as an example, which includes the fragment "Monday 9am–6pm". The full weekday names, tab characters separating the day from the time and 12-hour time format using an en dash (U+2013) rather than a hyphen as a separator are a bit of a giveaway. It's fairly unlikely that a mapper using iD will have typed this into the form on the web page, since typing a tab character into a field is hard to do by accident. It is unfortunately identical to the format used in Google Maps I am working through edits in the Feltham area where @Mapper50 appears to have copied and pasted the value for opening_hours=* and removing it, together with other data added in the same changeset which may also have been copied. |
69362568 | over 5 years ago | After you corrected these, the "mapper" who added the erroneous bicycle=yes tags re-added them, with a generous sprinkling of other irrelevant, inaccurate or fictitious tags. I've changed a few of these, but it might be worth you taking another look. I'll try to cycle over to Feltham in the next couple of weeks and upload as much imagery to Mapillary as I can. |
77255535 | over 5 years ago | If you see opening_hours=* in that rather distinctive format, it is likely to be a direct copy and paste from Google Maps. My inclination would be to delete as tainted rather than reformat. |
71395850 | over 5 years ago | I can't help noticing that you appear to have copied rather a lot of the information in this changeset from Google Maps, even down to the dubious capitalisation of the address of Tan Box. #DWG |
71361047 | over 5 years ago | Please could you explain where you got your opening_hours information from? Not only are they not in the format specified in the wiki ( osm.wiki/Key:opening_hours ), but they look suspiciously like they were copied and pasted from Google, a copyrighted data source which you MUST NOT use in OSM. #DWG |
75034124 | over 5 years ago | @TravGW there are a lot of these on almost everything added. I'm gradually removing them. |
77120193 | almost 6 years ago | I have reinstated highway=service to these driveways (retaining service=driveway + access=private) in osm.org/changeset/77277764 |
72394516 | almost 6 years ago | Thanks, updated in osm.org/changeset/77271490 |
72394516 | almost 6 years ago | The use of leisure=track + sport=cycling seems a little odd for the Maesdu Avenue cycleway between Llandudno and Deganwy, as the wiki for leisure=track suggests that this is for a dedicated sporting facility. It's just an unsegregated shared cycle- and footway separated from the carriageway. |
77120193 | almost 6 years ago | Hi, thanks for updating OSM. While adding service=driveway and access=private is correct, unfortunately deleting the highway=service tag is unhelpful as service=driveway does not make sense on its own. There are more details in the wiki at

76453405 | almost 6 years ago | Hi, welcome to OSM and many thanks for updating these shops.
There's nothing wrong with you edit as it stands, but you might find this useful if you're mapping shops which haven't been surveyed for a few years. |
75908350 | almost 6 years ago | Hi. I notice that you have tagged some branches of Cashino in the UK as amenity=casino. The wiki page for this states "A gambling venue with at least one table game (e.g. roulette, blackjack). The presence of a croupier is assumed." Cashino's own website states that it is "Cashino is a really exciting place to play slot machines." It does not seem to fit the definition of a casino. Please could you explain why you think it does? |
76003381 | almost 6 years ago | It's hard to tell, so while adding a top level tag keeps Osmose happy, they may be good candidates for deletion. A web search for CISS brings up an email address which matches the name of a former director of a company at that address, so they probably were relevant when first mapped. The original mapper (oldenburg69) hasn't been active for 4 years and I'm not totally reassured by his edit history. |
73313570 | about 6 years ago | Thank you for spotting that, he:operator=* should have been heritage:operator=* Assuming that you have read osm.wiki/Key:heritage why do you think that operator=* would be more appropriate? Historic England (he) do not operate the site, they are the statutory body responsible for its heritage listing, in this case as a Scheduled Ancient Monument. |
68135797 | over 6 years ago | Thanks for updating the bus route so quickly. I wasn't planning a return visit to the area for at least a couple of months. |
64179786 | over 6 years ago | I've updated this in changeset #68098477, please feel free to revert if you feel strongly that this was inappropriate. |
