Hello and welcome to OSM! We use mixed case for labels (words beginning with a capital letter and small letters for the rest). If you look at the map in this area, you will see "Assam Science and Technology University", not "ASSAM SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY", and so on. Capital letters use too much space and they are harder to read. It would be great if you could do that too in the future. Happy mapping!

This changeset has broken addressing/residential areas in Cambridge and I have therefore reverted it fully.

Dear Jinx Naleo, you have deleted a large number of buildings in this changeset which can set some alarm bells ringing with people watching OSM. Try not to delete and re-draw things, and instead change existing things when they are not accurate. And if you delete a lot of things, put in a good changeset comment that says why (e.g. "these buildings were destroyed" or so).

Dear user aracho, welcome to OSM. In this changeset you have deleted a lot of buildings, only to re-draw them with a little offset. Large deletions like that can set alarm bells ringing. If you are improving an existing building, try to just move it to the right location rather than deleting and re-creating it. Also, when deleting lots of buildings it is good to specify a reason in the changeset comment (e.g. "removing buildings that were destroyed by flood" or so), so that people know it is not an accident.

Langer Rede kurzer Sinn, etwas weniger Detailversessenheit wäre gut ;)

Hello, yungsup, and welcome to OSM. When contributing, please use a changeset comment that humans can understand, rather than (just) "#WSPNZ23" which is a term known only to insiders. Also, you don't have to hit "save" for every building you draw; it is ok to save only once every 20 buildings or so. Finally, please don't give your buildings a name of "House" - just leave the name field blank. The fact that it is a house can be seen from the "building" tag.

Always good to include a comment about something like that in the changeset description so that people know it wasn't an accident ;)

Ich lösche jetzt sämtliche österreichischen Hecken, deren ursprünglicher Autor sich selbst gelöscht hat. Wäre aber besser, wir tragen diese Sachen im Forum zusammen statt hier.

Hola kokoadict, in this changeset you have deleted something like 100 buildings. Checking aerial imagery it looks like the buildings are still there. Why did you delete them - have these buildings been destroyed?

144070096 over 1 year ago

Hello Lucia_Mazza, and welcome to OSM. You are contributing a lot of buildings and you are saving every single one of them. This is not necessary; you can accumulate a few dozen before hitting the save button. Also, most buildings are square and not trapezoid - use the "Q" key in the editor to make your building rectangular!

Hello Jinx Naleo, and welcome to OSM. You are using a lot of what we call "descriptive names". The "name" tag should be reserved for the name of things and not a description. For example, you have added a school in osm.org/way/1223840693 but you have not mapped it as a school - instead you have drawn an unspecified building and gave it the name "Gov. Public School K.Khel". It is better to choose the correct tag for a school (amenity=school) and then drop the description from the name. (Also, avoid abbreviations in the name.)

Dear Bikon8, welcome to OSM! You are using what we call "descriptive names". The "name" tag on an object is there to record the name of a building, not the purpose. For example, there is a specific tag for a library that you should use when mapping a library, rather giving the building a "name" of "Library". Also "Academic" is not a proper name for a building, and "School Path" an unlikely name for a footpath!

Dear AlexVDP, welcome to OSM! You have made many tiny uploads of one house each. You don't need to hit the "save" button after every house - it is easier to accumulate a few edits and then save them together!

Dear charlottejohnson, welcome to OSM. In this changset you have deleted more than 50 buildings without specifying any reason for it (the comment you provided on upload was "#hotosm-project-13149 #KLL #MapGive #mappingtheunmapped #mapforcause #osmnepal" which sadly does not help anyone understand why buildings need to be deleted). As a general rule, if you want to re-draw an existing object, we prefer it if you can simply move the existing object into place rather than deleting and re-doing it. Of course if the buildings you have deleted have actually ceased to exist then it would be good to mention that on the changeset comment ("deleting buildings that have been destroyed" or something like that).

Hallo KuprianP, bitte gib im Changeset-Kommentar beim Hochladen einen Text ein, der kurz Deine Änderung beschreibt. "local" ist keine gute Beschreibung.

Hi there and welcome to OSM. You may want to check the address you entered for "Tipsy's", you are currently stating the street is "Dundee-Huntley Rd" but no such street exists nearby?

Hello there and welcome to OSM. Are there two stationery stores right next to each other, or is this one store that you accidentally added twice? Maybe one of them needs to be deleted again? -- When setting the name, never use a descriptive tag. A stationery store will not usually be called "Stationery Store", it will be called something like "Anna's Paper Things" or maybe "Office 3000" or something like that. Unless of course "Stationery Store" is what it says on the sign outside.

When I asked you to add sources I didn't mean with every object, I meant a source tag on the changeset. Also, if you intend to use the Rapid editor to import AI-detected tracks across all of Turkey, please discuss this matter with the Turkish community first and link to that discussion in the changeset; AI-detected geometries are not equally welcome everywhere.

143982356 almost 2 years ago

Dear btns, after the recent revert of an undiscussed import of yours, you have already contributed hundreds of changesets with addresses, track roads, and now boundaries, all without specifying a source. Initially I thought it might be local knowledge but it is now becoming clear that your contributions must have other sources because nobody can personally survey that much in so little time. In the future please specify the data source with each of your edits so that we know where the data comes from (and whether the use of that data source is permitted with OSM).
