Changeset When Comment

Hello 3la2_ka, in this changeset you have removed a buffer zone from OSM that has been in the database for over 4 years, i.e. long before the current conflict erupted. OpenStreetMap does not require nation states to "approve" edits; it is the community who needs to agree on things. I am reverting your deletion now because if something has been in OSM for four years and edited my multiple people, I assume that there is some truth to it. If you feel that this area should be deleted, please discuss this on community.openstreetmap.org and refer to the outcome of that discussion before you delete it again. -- Thank you, Frederik Ramm of OSMF Data Working Group, handling this as

A temporary block was placed on this account due to the large number of deleted objects. I am reverting this changeset now. The account is unblocked but please take care not to perform similar deletions in the future.

I have reverted this changeset because OSM has its own rules about what can and cannot be mapped, and military airfields can definitely be mapped. Deleting them from OSM is vandalism - DWG Ticket#2024021110000171

Dear Sorain, user "alexnder" is correct, and your 15 years of mapping are not an excuse to map non-existent features in OSM. The community differs in their interepretation of "railway=razed" but it is absolutely clear that once a former railway line has been built over, then there is no place for it in OSM anymore - not as "abandoned", not as "disused", and not as "razed". I have removed a few of your razed railway lines where it was obvious from imagery that new buildings had been constructed on top. Please do not map things that no longer exist. If you find any guidelines anywhere that tell you to add such lines even under shopping malls, then please help OSM by editing these guidelines accordingly. Thank you - Frederik Ramm, OSMF Data Working group, handling this as ticket

Dear Juan Manuel, when you make edits like this where the boundary of a national park is changed, please always provide a source in your changeset. Use good changeset comments - not just "Correctiones" which is a catch-all that works for half of all changesets in OSM. For example, for this changeset, you could have written: "Correct national park boundary accourding to <whatever your source was>"

Hey Ercan 55, please use good changeset comments, not "n", "ne", "new", "edit", or "delete". Also you're creating one changeset for every building you add; it is actually better to group them in groups of 20 or even 50, then make ONE upload that says: "tracing buildings in XYZ" or so. (Where XYZ is the name of the place.) If you delete or change something, it is always good to specify a reason: "Deleting POI because the shop has closed", "Deleting building because it has been demolished" or so. (Of course you do not need to use English, you can use any language spoken in the area where you edit too.)

Dear Petey007, please specify a more detailed changeset than "course work", for example: "tracing features of XY golf course from aerial imagery" or so. Please also, for anything that is not visible on aerial imagery, specify the data source you are using, and satisfy yourself that this is actually a data source you are allowed to use and not something that is copyrighted. For example, in this changeset you labeled hole #1 and added par=4; we need to know where that information comes from. Use the "source" field to document your sources in future changeset uploads.

Dear stevethomp, OpenStreetMap expects you to provide a source for information you contribute. In this changeset you have added golf hole details that are not visible from aerial imagery. You're editing across the country so I presume you haven't been at the course in person. So where is the data from? Please provide this information in the source field when you upload; please do this in every changeset from now on unless you're only tracing from imagery. -- If you are taking information from web sites or leaflets, please check the web site's copyright/licensing page before you copy data from there, as any data copied into OSM without permission is liable to be removed again.

Dear mah'x, please consult osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments and choose better changeset comments in the future. Writing just "." is offensive to your fellow mappers who have to waste time finding out what your edit was about :(

Please provide a data source for the name "AVL Weather Hall Road". It sounds awfully descriptive for a road.

CurlingMan13, please respond to these comments. Why did you revert, and if your revert was a mistake, have you taken steps to avoid these mistakes in the future?

Hallo VRRIE, bitte verwende künftig deutlichere Changeset-Kommentare.

Dear BigKev97, when you revert a changeset please: (1) make an effort to comment on the original changeset that has introduced the error, and explain to the mapper what they did wrong so they can do better next time. (2) In your revert changeset, explain the reason for revert, which may also be a pointer to your comment in (1).

Dear Ayse Sagır, you are doing a lot of mapping regarding railways and roads that are under construction. These are not visible on aerial imagery. What is your data source? Please explain your data source for the railway construction in this changeset, and whenever you add something in the future that is not visible on aerial imagery, please explain directly in the changeset what your sources are so that other mappers can check if your edits are correct.

Dear Avni Miftari, what is your source for naming a road inside Kosovo "Islam Lika" when it was "Fazli Grajqevci" before?

Dead CDZIKI, your account is quite new and it would be good if you could describe your edits in greater detail than just "Oprava". Especially if you delete a lot of nodes like you did here! (This is also true for your sister accont CD1850 which is older but tends to use "Oprava" too...)
