I have finished cleaning up the Island Glades area (make most ways conform more to the GPS track, named streets and make new streets). I am not from that area thus there are still some parts which I am not entirely sure of. You can go to the OSM main page and chose to look at osmarender (more frequently updated) layer using the plus sign at the right hand side of the page. Alternatively, here's the URL:
osm.org/?lat=5.391152566925179&lon=100.30088485682742&zoom=17&layers=0BF
Roads tagged with Unknown are the ones I do not know the names. The is still a road I haven't done connecting Jalan Besi to Jalan Tembaga. If you could provide me with the name of the road I will do it.
Also, these are some of the roads (or part of roads) missing from the map:
Jalan Tingkat Besi - Jalan Besi
Tingkat Besi 2
Lintang Besi - Tingkat Besi 2
Solok Besi
Solok Tembaga 4
(and lots more).
I've now added the Princes Frw (& Hwy) from Berwick to Nowa Nowa in far East Victoria. I'll need traces from someone else to continue to the NSW border. Adding some C class roads down towards the coast and local street data next.
Happy Mapping
Mike.
I still need to do my traces from my visit, but I just noticed that we have some vandalism on the Mapnik layer. Someone has put some random motorways across it.
I realise that this is a politically sensitive area, but what is to be gained from spoiling a project like this?
S'pose I'd better use this diary for once, I'll see if I can import it into my main blog sometime..
I've been idle for sometime, since school has restarted my time has been eaten up by schoolwork and other such boring things.
But, the times I did get to go mapping I mapped a nicely large swathe of Carshalton, Beddington and North Wallington. I'm now slowly moving westwards towards Sutton. When that area is done I'll move south again and tackle the south of the railway line in Wallington.
I also need to check the roads traced by the Beddington BedZed mapping party a few months ago - there's some roads missing from there, I think.
Annoyingly I tried using potlatch to map my school's buildings in a fairly high detail last week. Potlatch seems to have added 10 segments over each other in places due to upload errors. It took me a couple of hours to fix it all in JOSM.
Hope to get out mapping again soon.
My Garmin Nuvi routed me off the A3/M25/M23/A23, so I got a trace of twisty country roads through sussex.
Right .... just uploaded my first GPS traces from a recent holiday in Iceland. Lots of footpaths. Now just need to work out the editing functions....
Holy monkey, quadtiling has made a difference. I've never known the server respond so quickly.
Thanks to boaconstrictor, the data for Greenland, Delima region is available. He (or she) used Potlatch to make a rough mapping, while I cleaned it up using JOSM. currently I have finished cleaning Gelugor Roundabout and Jalan Masjid Negei. There are tons of data to clean up still.
I am extremely unhappy about the speed at which osmarender (online) render and update the tiles, even if I requested it.
I have also finished the some parts of route 3113: Jelutong Expressway, Bayan Lepas Expressway and others. Due to the lack of a reputable map, I am unable to find names for certain stretch of the highway. I have tagged those with Not Known.
I have also entered note for most of the routes I map. Note tags contain specific markers or certain clues or todo to let people know what needs to be done.
1994, my first GPS and an idea to create a map of walks in Italy. Not much progress. 2004 a return to Italy, Umbria this time and another project to write up the walks. 2005 a new GPS, a digital camera, and some notes. 2006 more GPS tracks, more photos. June 2007 more tracks, and some photos uploaded to Flickr. Sept 2007 three years of track logs uploaded to OSM: London to Umbria, around and about, Umbria to London.
Application error
Change his error message for excepton thrown outside of an action (like in Dispatcher setups or broken Ruby code) in public/500.html
mmmh.. seems to be an error on openstreetmap.org.
Perhaps they create a possibility to upload the gpx data directly from the PDA.
eg. using a sub-domain: upload.openstreetmap.org
Ich habe mal ein paar Orte rund um Derenburg benannt, da sah (und sieht) es noch sehr dünn aus.
Looking at JOSM, I noticed that Island Galdes, Penang has substaintial amount of GPX data on it. I looked through on the GPS traces on OSM website and found boaconstrictor osm.org/user/boaconstrictor.
Just looked at the render of my local area and noticed a couple of things
1. There are roundabout icons on the mini-roundabouts, but they go the wrong way for the UK. Not sure what could be done about that as most countries drive on the right.
2. All the roads have a (c) tag. I assume this indicates who added them. I suspect it doesn't really mean Copyright
I've been playing with this software on my Pocket PC, but have some issues that I'm trying to figure out with help from the author. It has the great feature of being able to display OSM tiles and overlay what you are logging. My problem is that the map position tends to lag behind where I actually am.
I started a wiki page for the app. It's already getting some feedback.
gestern versucht, ein GPX direkt vom PDA über die Webseite hochzuladen. Es gab immer einen Fehler 500. Ich schreib die Fehlermeldung mal ab und stelle sie als Fehler ein...
I'm very interested in maps and have tried to add some place names to towns I recognize close to where I live. I also tried mapping a road based on the Yahoo map in practice mode but it sucked... Have to get a gps sometime, this ought to be fun.
Been playing around with OSM-- trying to create at least the route I take to work and the landmarks along the path. Guess I have a bit to learn..
Added a park-- learning to enclose the non-default-land on the right (so, for islands, CCW; for lakes, CW).
I may begin working on the coast lines of Galveston. Wonder when my modifications will show up on OSM.
Completed 1st round mapping of Novigrad, Istra, Croatia.
