I used Potlatch's new undelete feature yesterday to bring back a trunk road in London which was deleted a month ago (I'm presuming accidentally).

That was easy.

On a brief (cold) spin on the bike last night, I noticed an NCN sticker which wasn't there last time I cycled along that road.

Turns out NCN 54 now runs from somewhere near Burton (Etwall probably, I haven't found the start of this bit yet) to Uttoxeter. The NCN signs are fairly intermittent from Sudbury, and Uttoxeter appears to be the end of route for now. But given that route 54 also runs from Etwall via Derby to Little Eaton, and Etwall via Burton to Lichfield, either it's planned as a Y-shaped fork or a P-like loop.

Fortunately I ended up at Uttoxeter just in time to get the train back. (Back as far as Tutbury & Hatton, anyway, which is fairly near to Burton, and avoids a tedious wait for a connection at Derby.)

Have been working on more of Crawley and bits of Horsham, did a bit of tracing for the river mole. Fixed a big mess in Horley yesterday where a road had got totally screwed up. Interestingly the history of the nodes told me nothing!

Tried to put together a One Click Install package of the client software for openSUSE. More about that once I get pavel to test it.

Yesterday and today ive tracked and edited the roads from Turnišče to Maribor, via Murska Sobota highway, vilagges Bučečovci, Cerkvenjak, city Lenart...
I corected some roads. Today i tracked and edited most on streets of Turnišče, its about 60% covered with streets and mnames of streets.
Edited some streets in Murska Sobota with names...

2dni sem intenzivno delal na pokrivanju cest od Turnišča do Maribora, dodal sem tudi cca.60 % ulic V Turnišču, dodal sem imena ulic, nekaj znamenitosti, ter cca.5km poljskih poti.

As people have probably noticed, we had a small accident about ten days ago which caused some of the metadata for uploaded GPX traces to be lost. We do still have the trace files, we just don't know who uploaded some of them.

In order to help associate the files we have with the right users it would be helpful if people could send me a list of the traces they have and some details about them so I can try and match them up to the files we have on the server.

To help with this there is a tool available in subversion - you can download it here:

It is a perl script which will generate an XML file listing all the traces it finds. You should run it as follows:

listTraces.pl [display-name] [public?] [directory]

It will recursively search the named directory for GPX traces and generate a file named tracelist.xml which you can review and then send to me at tomh@openstreetmap.org to be matched up against the files we hold.

The [display-name] argument should match your display name on OSM and the [public?] argument should be either 0 or 1 to indicate if you wish the traces to made public or not - ie whether they should be visible to people other than you on the site.

Playing with potlatch made me notice that Glasgow has Yahoo imagery. Nice.

Am Kloster von Wienhausen war gestern und heute Weihnachtsmarkt. Man wundert sich, wieviel Esoterikstände zu sehen waren. Auch schamanische Heilungen kann man bei Bedarf bekommen. Nunja - die Freundin freute sich über die kleinen Buden und das Kloster im Hintergrund, ich habe ein paar Fotos gemacht. Einige Straßen sind neu erschlossen worden, und bei dem wunderbaren Wetter um die Mittagszeit konnten ein paar Stichstraßen an den Eyßelheidewegt angebaut werden sowie der Fußweg nördlich und der Feldweg südlich des Allerkanals vermessen werden.
Hillerse, Leiferde, Dalldorf, Volkse, der Hähnchenschnellweg nach Ohof und einiges in der Gegend sind jetzt auch vermessen. Erstaunlich,w ie wenig da noch vorhanden ist bei OSM.
