I realized I made edits in Brazil, adding footways, and then forgot to upload those before adding roads in Pakistan, hence the reason for the large changeset. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will take great car to avoid repeating this mistake in the future, and will make sure my edits are confined to one municipality at a time.

Hello palimpadum,

I hope this message finds you well! Is there a reason why the access=private tag would be kept on this secondary? Originally applied by you when this was service, this now appears to be an important public road. I am considering removing it. I would appreciate your opinion.

Best,

Hello,

It was a real pleasure to collaborate on this topic. I hope for further opportunities in the future. I appreciate very much that you added this information! I will take note that there are likely other gates preventing direct access. Just the addition of these couple tags makes a big difference in showing the context of the situation for data consumers. I wish you an excellent week. I hope you have an excellent week!

An additional thought I had:

Access=permissive is probably the best access tag for this situation, meaning access is allowed until revoked by authorities, in this case police, with that in mind the best tagging would be:

barrier=gate (or a more specific value)
access=permissive
police=checkpoint

Hello Angys

I hope this holiday season finds you well. According to the wiki (osm.wiki/Key:layer), ground is implicitly considered layer=0. Any layer value, which indicates vertical ordering, is valid only where the overpass occurs. Based on this information, I think layer=1 is a better choice than layer=4 or layer=5 for many kilometers of this DASH motorway, as for a long part their are only roads at ground level underneath the DASH. For other intersections, I consider level = 2 or level = 3 more appropriate depending on the their specific circumstances. Please tell me if you agree with my proposal below! I would deeply appreciate your feedback.

Based on the above, This is what I propose,

These parts of the motorway should be retagged as layer=1:

way 1137610698
way 1119899973
way 866519003
way 765804063
way 1094894143
way 1094894147
way 1033054308
way 1033054307
way 1137755433
way 1137755432

For this specific intersection I believe these specific pieces should be layer=2:

way 1162448283
way 1162448282

For these pieces Layer=3 seems to be the best choice:

way 1162449096
way 1162449098

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter!

Best,

Thank you for so very much responding. I am of the opinion that you can mark this node as both a barrier and a police checkpoint, based on the reality you saw here. Adding police=checkpoint as a tag to the node is definitely the right decision, but is it also possible to be more specific about the type of gate? Checkpoints like these typically have lift_gates (osm.wiki/Tag:barrier%3Dlift_gate). Is that the case here?

In summary, I believe the tagging would be either:

barrier=gate
Police=checkpoint

or

barrier=lift_gate
police=checkpoint

I hope to hear back from you. I wish you very well this holiday season.

Hello Ziggy Zobotka,

I hope this message finds you well. I would appreciate greatly if you could share more information about the gate barrier you added at coordinates 33.6965301, 73.4247142 (node 10727840141). You observed this gate in person? And if so what type of gate was it? Is it left open the majority of the time for traffic, or is there a traffic cop or any type of person attending this gate. I ask as this is a more important road and it would be excellent to add further details. I wish you the very best and hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

Do you have local knowledge of this road. Please be more specific and I can make the necessary corrections.

Hello GrabMy_FaizDjamil,

Are you referring to this piece of road way 1149163721 that I added back more than a month ago? What you like me to remove it, and if so what sources do you have that I can cite that show it as nonexistent?

Hello angys,

I hope you are doing very well. There is something I am curious about. I have noticed that parts of the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated (DASH) Expressway have layer = 4 or layer = 5 applied. Can you tell me why? For me, as an elevated expressway, it makes sense perhaps to apply layer = 1, with ground being layer = 0, but often I don't see other roads or objects occurring between the ground and the elevated expressway. I would be extremely grateful to hear back from you on this topic and to understand why the community is applying these layer tags to parts of the DASH motorway.

Hello Zh9567,

I haven noticed that parts of the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway have layer = 4 applied. Can you tell me what the logic is behind applying this value for the level? As an elevated expressway, it makes sense perhaps to apply layer = 1, with ground being layer = 0, but often I don't see other roads or objects that would be considered layer = 2, or layer =3 occurring between the ground and the elevated expressway. I would be extremely grateful to hear back from you on this topic.

Hello CelsoR,

I am unable to confirm your application of access=no. By applying access=no, to my knowledge you are indicating that this road is not accessible by the general public, not even to pedestrians for walking. However, I do not see any evidence of this in South Africa CD:NGI Aerial, Mapillary, Kartaview, or Bing Streetside. Can you share the resources that support this tagging decision please? I would be extremely grateful. you cite local knowledge. Do you live in this neighborhood?

Hello user_5359,

That number corresponded to the rough coordinates of the node. It's addition was an accident and I have removed the tag from the node as appropriate. A big thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Hello @rarad74. I appreciate your input, but as a Kaart editor that is not based in Romania, I have less control over what data I am allowed to contribute because of our verifiability standard. I wish you the best with regards to speed limit data in Romania and good health in the new year.
