is an interesting little village. Most of the village seems to be build rather recently. The street names suggest there was just agricultural land on most part. In addition to that, the large part of the village is located in kind of a no-exit area. You will have to leave the same way as you enter the residence area. Rütihof

... how many kilometers it takes to map a relative small area. The northern side of Wettingen and a bit of the forest was about 45 km distances. OpenStreetMap starts to pay out as a real fitness tool :-)

Als ich mir vor ein paar Wochen Gran Canaria das erste mal auf OpenStreetMap angesehen habe ist es richtiggehend im Ozean versoffen (mapnik rendering). Auf dem Osmarender war es dagegen ein weisser Fleck. Ok auch nicht perfekt, aber das lässt sich ja beheben :-) In den letzen Wochen habe ich meinen Urlaub "verarbeitet" und nun lässt sich das Strassennetz schon etwas sehen (natürlich auch noch nicht vollständig).

Leider bleibt aber Gran Canaria "unter Wasser" auch trotz meiner Rettungsversuche die Küstenlinie als "natural=coastline" an stelle der verschiedenen higway varianten, welche ursprünglich benutzt wurden.

Wenn jemand eine Idee hat, wie die Insel wieder an die Oberfläche kommt, wird Hilfe gerne angenommen.

As the weather continued to be very nice, the last part of mapping my direct neighborhood could go one. Most of the streets could be done by bicycle but a few footpaths where on the way as well.

Looks like the next mapping project brings me into the forests nearby...

After the initial effort yesterday, the next street was ready to be mapped today.

Also tried out JOSM. I am not sure yet whether to use potlatch or JOSM for editing. Both have advantages. Lets see on which editor the learning curve pays out better.

As a first experiment how this works, I have started to map part of the area where I live. The first session basically adds the Stadtbachstrasse and some access roads with a few features nearby.
