50132964 | about 8 years ago | Hello, and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I see you're just testing things out, but please be aware that you're editing the same map data that everyone in the world uses. So please don't add any details that are only relevant for a few people (such as the name "Barb's house"). I'm going to remove those tags. If you have any more questions about how to do constructive edits to OpenStreetMap, don't hesitate to ask, there are lots of people willing to help out! |
50040904 | about 8 years ago | Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! This node needed an 'amenity=library' tag so that the map rendering program knows to use a library icon. Just using the 'name' tag isn't sufficient. I fixed it for you. |
50021647 | about 8 years ago | It looks like you were trying to fix the name of the store, but you only fixed the "name:en" tag, but not the "name" tag. (I'm not sure what it looks like when you're editing in maps.me, possibly they hide that distinction.) I'll fix it. |
50018538 | about 8 years ago | The "addr:housenumber" tag should only include the number part, and "addr:street" should include the full "Montana Street", not just "St". I fixed it for this building. |
50018364 | about 8 years ago | Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! In this case, you don't need to have a separate node for the address and all the building information. You could add those tags to the building itself, not to the node. (it looks like you did that correctly in most of your other edits). |
49995206 | about 8 years ago | Hello, and welcome to OpenStreetMap! I see you are trying to add names to some water features. However, the nodes you created didn't have any tags on them. At minimum in this case they should have a 'name=', as well as a tag that explains what type of feature it is. In OSM however, we also usually add names directly to the feature itself, instead of adding the name as a separate node. So in this case, you would select the lake, and add a name tag to the lake. I deleted the empty nodes that you created so far, but I encourage you to try again, this time adding the necessary tags to the correct features. Let us know if you need any help! |
49975153 | about 8 years ago | Hi! Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! You tagged this as your house, however, the "name" tag is for the commonly used names for things that everyone can agree on. Unless _everyone_ calls this "My House", that's not the proper name. Also, I don't think this is a true guest house open to the public. Sounds like it's just "building=house". |
49975190 | about 8 years ago | Hi. If this is a guest house (like, a Bed & Breakfast) that is open to the public, then what is its name? Does it have a website or a phone number? If not, then it's probably just a house, not a guest house. I'm going to change it to a house until we have more information. Details about the guest_house tag are here: osm.wiki/Tag:tourism%3Dguest_house |
49914736 | about 8 years ago | Hi, it looks like you removed the hospital attributes from this node. Is that what you intended? If so, you could just delete the node entirely. We don't really need that GNIS information in OpenStreetMap. |
49871099 | about 8 years ago | Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! Looks like you were trying to add that stray address to the building outline. You did that correctly, but you can also delete the disconnected address node. I did that in this edit: osm.org/changeset/49873728 Now, once the map has time to refresh, we should only see one address, the one on the house itself. |
49854992 | about 8 years ago | In particular, the entrances to an area should be tagged on nodes that are part of the outline of that area, not as floating disconnected nodes. I tried to update the map as best I could, but you might want to check that I got the entrances in the right location. osm.org/changeset/49871026 |
49854992 | about 8 years ago | Hello! Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! In this edit you don't need to add all of those extra nodes to describe the park. The polygon for the park itself is sufficient. |
49827006 | about 8 years ago | According to Mapillary and a web search, there is a 12-story apartment building on this site, built quite recently. Mapillary shows that it still exists as of January of this year. It is not a park. https://www.mapillary.com/map/im/gVNA83F3iCBOJgSlYrR0kw
Please do not make any false edits to OpenStreetMap for the purpose of creating Pokemon spawn locations, if that's what you were trying to do. |
49778232 | about 8 years ago | Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! It sounds like this feature might also need the shop=copyshop tag, if you think it's appropriate. osm.wiki/Tag:shop%3Dcopyshop |
49765025 | about 8 years ago | Hi there, thanks for editing OpenStreetMap! Those lines are part of "relations" which describe the boundary of Kailua. So the lines themselves do not need the administrative tag. I know that relations are a fairly advanced topic in OSM, so it's understandable that it's not immediately obvious how to edit them. Most people use JOSM (the more advanced editing program) to edit relations, instead of iD (which is the editing tool embedded in the website). But can I ask, what do you mean by a Pokemon spawning issue? Are there pokemon spawning where they shouldn't be spawning? Or are you trying to get them to spawn, where they aren't already spawning? |
49762142 | about 8 years ago | Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! I'm glad you're enjoying it! It's a bit unusual to add address tags to a landuse feature, but I suppose it's not necessarily wrong. However, in this case it sounds like you might want to use boundary=protected_area and leisure=nature_reserve, either in addition to the landuse tag, or instead of it. Check out wiki.osm.org for more info about both of those. Happy mapping! |
49736286 | about 8 years ago | That may be true, but that doesn't necessarily make it a park. If it's a park, what is its name? What government entity administers it? If it's a true park, it should be possible to answer these questions. If you can't answer them, then it's not a park, and something like landuse=grass is more appropriate. From what I can tell online, it's not officially part of the nearby Fish Creek Provincial Park. I notice that some of the adjacent grassy parcels nearby are tagged with leisure=common. Perhaps that is a better compromise tag for areas that are not official parks, but are used like parks? (They should also probably have the landuse=grass tag in addition). Because I don't have local knowledge here, I won't revert this change back to landuse=grass, but I encourage you and other local mappers to do some research into the correct tags for these areas. |
49730130 | about 8 years ago | Hi! Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! You can also describe what kind of store this is by using the "shop" tag. Perhaps "shop=convenience" or "shop=supermarket". See osm.wiki/Key:shop for some examples. You also might want to check out osm.wiki/Key:opening_hours for describing the hours when the business is open. |
49713859 | about 8 years ago | Hi there, thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! In OSM, we map addresses using 'addr' tags, not by writing the address in the 'name' tag. I changed it for you, so you can see the proper tagging. |
49705606 | about 8 years ago | Hi there! Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! In this case, you shouldn't add name=Home, because that's not the proper name for this place. Instead you could add something like building=house. |
