I have uploaded my first trace today, my usual cycle ride in Lancashire from Wigan to Mere Brow and back. I am planning a cycle tour in Holland next year and have found the map on this website very useful. I was wondering if I could download some of it to my Satmap and use it as the main route planner. If not I would like to know if I can get this information from anywhere else on the web. I will be uploading the other cycle routes across the North West of England as I do them over the next few months.

There's some information here on getting OSM maps onto Garmin GPS units. As far as I know, not all the maps there are routable (i.e. you can't get the Garmin to plan routes with them, it just shows where you are).
osm.wiki/index.php/OSM_Map_On_Garmin
There also seems to have been some work on making routable maps work, here for example:

My Garmin handheld GPS doesn't have enough memory for me to fit any meaningful-sized map on :-(

You can find garmin routable maps here

Not sure how good they are for cycling because they will prefer to send you via freeways and so on.
What is really needed is to regenerate the garmin maps marking bike routes as freeways, so that the routing engine then prefers to send you along bike friendly routes.
