OSM Inspector has also detected this error:

You can use overpass to download only lines with natural=coastline even for huge areas. JOSM offers a wizard for this.

The tool I use is a own written program which downloads the very recent day and hour replicate files. So I can see coastline errors not later than one hour after they appear.

Line ids 404462767 (which already existed) and 686907210 (which you added) both have natural=coastline and overlap!

Again, there are duplicated coastlines! WHY?? You could have used and refine the old one. Why creating a new one? This time, you should clean up this mess! I will not. This also means, that I completely stop cleaning up coastline around the world for several days. Great job!

No! It's YOU who is creating BAD or INCONSISTENT coastlines!!! STOP DOING so!!! If you want to improve coastlines the ONLY refine existing ones or split them up.

Hi Sophia! Welcome to OpenStreetMap! Let me give you two little hint editing coastlines:
1. Try to refine existing coastlines and split the up if needed. This way, it is more likely, that relations will stay intact and coastline is not inconsistent.
2. Land is on left hand side! Always!

Please continue your work and learn! I'll now add your ways to the relations and split the existing one, so you can see, how it works...

I've done that now for most zoom levels... Looks good...

Well, that has nothing to do with the duplicate nodes... But, I have checked the polygones in that area and everything seems to be fine. Sometimes the renderers need some time to catch up with changes to the data. Just wait... some days... If the area remains white or the other areas nearby become white which are now green, than something is really wrong. There are ways to force the renderer to start, but that's quite difficult. If you use JOSM, you can do a right click to get the tile info and path. If you than add a "/dirty" , the renderer starts...

Don't worry... Most likely it is a failure of the editor propgram. So I can't tell you, that it was your fault. I fix several of these failures (duplicated nodes in a way) each day. Even from very experienced users. Just go ahead.

This changeset introduces errors in coastline and borders. Please repair or revert.

62083614 almost 7 years ago

Hi lakedistrict, if you want to completely revert that changeset, you will have to revert my changeset first. If you have checked everthing you may do this. I'm mainly checking for coastline errors. If the coastline errors are still gone afterwards, everthing is fine. You are welcome to do this. You can do both reverts in one changeset... Regards, Andre

Coastlines may not have open ends. Please learn how to use the coastline-tag before using it.

57695288 over 7 years ago

Please don't tag canals as coastlines. I can not see on aerial images, what it is. Please read tagging howtos if you need assistance. Coastlines underlie speacial rules and there are several people monitoring this special tagging.

Hi Lukasz, it seems that natural=bay is not rendered at all. When I edited this, I thought it would be rendered as water, but... Now I've changed everthing back to coastline. But mapnik will take some time to render it correctly again. Sorry for the trouble... Andre

This edit introduces a coastline conflict. Coastlines may not overlap, touch or cross each other. Please fix, if possible.
