Okay, but the large scale of the changes (and the large scale of the error we discovered) implies that you at least identify yourself as a real human being and interact with the rest of the mapper community instead of operating in complete secrecy. This is not a movie, this is real life and the rest of the community cannot blindly trust someone just like that at this scale. Because there are several bad people out there doing mass edits just like you are - we have no way of knowing if you are good or bad unless you actually talk with us.

This person posted this link in the OSM India Telegram group, answered some basic clarifications, and will proceed now to do those edits. Very easy to do - and you can avoid all these spam accusations this way. Proper communication is the solution.

I clicked on one level crossing mapped by his profile at random and found it was somewhere outside Indore .. a well-built up town but many of the roads around were not mapped in OSM at all. Spent some time mapping the roads. If the profile is using some tech then it's good. But I'm suspecting currently that it's a college prof, probably in Mumbai, who did a lot of this work with students, or someone with good resources with Batman ideas. Heck, in my family we learned at a relative's funeral he'd done some major social work all in secret from even his wife. Mumbai can do that to people. I think a viable way forward would be to ban further edits from that account, but keep the edits done so far till someone finds something egregiously wrong, and invite the person(s) to make proper accounts, start over as real people and interact on the mailing list / telegram group before anything big like this. I'll share the recent wikipedia tag changing proposal as an example of good way to go about large edits.
