Solo Project: Indoor Mapping of my University Campus - First mapping experience!
Arwym님이 English로 2016년 4월 1일에 게시함. 최근 2016년 4월 11일에 업데이트됨.Hello, there!
I am Jessica, from Puerto Rico. From March 30 and on, I’ve taken up the responsibility of mapping the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Bayamón Campus, especially indoors. This is my first time doing this kind of work, and I’m building a web application that will help students navigate the campus, using OSM data.
So far, I’m getting the grip of how OSM editing works. It looks pretty fun, but I am overwhelmed.
First thing on Monday, I will go to the administrative building and see if someone will help me obtain a copy of the floor plans. I am going to start with building F, the Telecom. and Information building. By the end of the month, I must have something to present to my classmates.
Any tips for indoor mapping are more than welcome, by the way! Wish me luck. :)

Amazing to see so many details in San Juan area.
Indoor mapping (with multiple floor levels) is a difficult task, and even major airports (Frankfurt, Heathrow) are hardly mapped.
Outdoor mapping is still a major task. Many streets have been imported from government sources. Especially in Puerto Rico, there are many rural tracks which are hardly accessible with regular vehicles. Nobody has ever checked how useful these rural tracks are. There may be unmapped pedestrian shortcuts, closed streets, turn restrictions and impassable tracks. Any student (especially from rural areas) is invited to report errors.

Hello, this is Víctor Ramírez of the Puerto Rico OSM Team. We have set up a wiki on Puerto Rico OSM projects and the Imagery that should be used for tracing. We also have a mailing list that you can use to ask questions and view important announcements.
The most important technical issue that you should know before mapping is that the Bing Images in the ID Editor are misaligned. Instead you should configure ID to use the images at the following url: http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Imagery/MapServer/tile/{z}/{y}/{x}
Feel free to ask us any questions. We intend to organize a mapping event by the end of the month and would like it if you participated.

Thank you everybody for the feedback!
@vramirez, thanks for pointing that out. I’ve now started using the ARCGIS imagery.
