Openstreetmap passed its 100'000th km of nordic ski pistes !

Thank for the news 😇👍🎉🎉🎉 How did you do to “raise an alarm” when this goal was achieved? Did you make a query via overpass (I don’t think so)? Or did you sum up all the length by scanning the OSM planet files? Or query a database?

Also what are the next “goals” you are waiting for? How did you come up with this great idea of looking for ski track length? 👍👍👍👌

How to use Every Door

Hi Ilya, Martine, about the ‘map it later’. It also do not work for me. So at least I take the picture with Mapillary app and upload it directly before forgetting it. That way, if ‘sometime’ someone wants to map the area he/she will have a picture (but probably outdated…)

Better is to open StrretComplete and create a note with some pictures. This is nice. Note are more ‘visible’ than a simple Mapillary picture.

I am waiting for EveryDoor to have the same ‘note+pictures’ feature.

I think I can probably create a MapRoulette challenge that notes created by StreetComplete and EveryDoor. Those note were created by people that can fix issue on the field or don’t have time/motivation to do it (do it later). So someone that open MapRoulette have more time and can address those issues 😇👍

Have a nice day and thanks again Ilya for EveryDoor. I give it a try yesterday. The Opening Hours entry system give me a hard try but now I understand how it works. I will create a GitHub issue to add help in app FAQ or so.

Detect tree species automatically with PlantNet

Hi Pieter, you are my hero! I love to add trees in OSM. Until now I was adding trees by using OsmGo on Android and my tree knowledge. I am mainly focused on adding fruit trees, nuts trees, edible flowers trees, etc.

Thanks a lot for your work on this. I wasn’t expecting PlantNet to have a public API and I was not expecting MapComplete to handle API call or other external ressources. I need to check MapComplete source code some time to find all it’s possibilities. 😇👍

Thanks again and have a nice day

Why asking others to survey is useless.

I made a lot of MapRoulette challenges around the world. And I add fixme “to survey”. So be sure I will never travel the entire world to solve all my fixme. A fixme is a very good “tool” (or a note) to point an issue to someone that (hopefully) live nearby. So of course I will continue to ask survey when I can not fix by looking to aerial imagery or other data source. Have a nice day.

Making my first contributions

Welcome. I hope you will have some good time contributing to OSM. Keep it as a hobby when you have some spare time 😇

new account

Welcome then 😇👍

Mainaschaff block by block

Hi from a non-existent reader. I appreciate your work even if I am not a huge fan of mining and crafting 😅😅😅

Consider mapping as a hobby or a game, not an obligation. I saw that you only used id editor. Go out and try StreetComplete or OSM Go!

Have a nice day 😇

Contribuer me permet de lutter contre mon diabète

Time to create an account on https://openplacereviews.org/ 😇👍

The Start

Hi Mikesh, nice idea. This feature already exists in JOSM. Maybe you can find some “good ideas” there. Have a nice day.

July

Hi Alireza, keep on your good work 👍 You said that contributing before sundown is hard and I saw that you are mainly using StreetComplete. You should have a look to https://maproulette.org/ on PC it is kind of the same, except you contribue mainly by looking to aerial imagery and why not local knowledge. I created tons of MapRoulette challenge for France. Feel free to duplicate them. I can help you BTW. Have a nice day 😊 روز خوبی داشته باشید

In a year...

Hi abdul_, good to see that you enjoy OSM and being part of its community. I saw that you tried Vespucci on your phone, you should try StreetComplete it is very addictive 😅 Also you can try https://maproulette.org on PC. Have a nice day 😇

Firstie

Welcome 🎉

OSM Oxford plans

Great! You should also consider help from the community. To do so, I like to create MapRoulette challenges. If you are interested, here are some of my challenges in France: https://maproulette.org/browse/projects/38938 If you want to create your own challenges, you can find all my queries here: osm.wiki/User:Binnette/OverpassQueries Have a nice day :)

Hi Maria,

Thank for your message :) I created a question in GitHub in order to discuss it with the main developer. Please, fell free to add any other question there.
