Why did I start with Lismore Heights?

Postiwyd gan Biogenesis_ ar 28 Mehefin 2009 yn English

Somehow my random cycling around the place caused me to start mapping Lismore Heights yesterday. It's the steepest area of Lismore there is and I started to map it first :p.

It's mostly done, thankfully. I'll probably head out cycling again this afternoon and survey the streets to the South of Lismore Heights. Essentially there's a ridge that High Street follows. On the North side is Lismore Heights and on the South side (the steeper one) there's some bushland. Once the streets to the South are surveyed the bushland can be guessed in.

At least it's good for my fitness...The rear spokes on the pushbike might need some loving soon though.

Looking nice. It's good to get the difficult bit out of the way first I guess. :-P

Yeah, even if it was a mistake. It's fun to map an area almost completely from GPS tracks. I've been a bit spoiled by the Yahoo coverage in Newcastle.

I know what you mean, there's a whole heap of new developments on the north of Brisbane that aren't on the satellite maps. I've had a few field days mapping on the bike. :)

Have fun in any case, I'll keep an eye on your work.

I actually prefer tracing from GPS tracks, as I find the yahoo overlay can have some errors, especially on hilly terrain.

On some really hilly areas, I've wussed out and drove my car around - with a friend in the passenger seat taking photos of POIs as we go :)
